Sinfield display earns Golden Boot nomination

FIVE players who will play in Saturday's Four Nations final between England and Australia are on the shortlist to win the coveted Golden Boot, which is awarded annually to the world's greatest Rugby League player by 'Rugby League World' magazine.
Leeds Rhinos skipper Kevin Sinfield may be a surprise selection in some eyes, but his outstanding performance for England in their 20-12 victory against New Zealand on Saturday night, following his influential display against Australia the previous week, confirmed his nomination.
Sinfield has enjoyed a memorable autumn. Not only did he become the first captain to win four Super League Grand Finals, but he also won the Harry Sunderland award as the Old Trafford man of the match as his side dispatched St Helens for the third year in a row. He scored 253 Super League points for the Rhinos in 2009.
The other five players with a chance of winning the award are Australia's Greg Inglis, Billy Slater and Cameron Smith, England's Gareth Ellis and New Zealand's Fuifui Moimoi. Moimoi is the only nominee who won't be able to press his claim in this Saturday's final.
Slater and Smith are the last two winners of the award and, along with Inglis, tasted Grand Final glory with Melbourne this year and State-of-Origin success with Queensland for the fourth year in a row.

He's only posted it on Leeds forum and ours, as if he's trying to make a point as "some" Saints fans class him as over-rated.

Apart from the first half against Australia when we were all terrible, he has been excellent.

He has shown good organisational skill, directed us around the pitch very well on Saturday, showed great distribution (bar a couple of bad passes in good positions), works very hard defensively and is an outstanding goal kicker.

The only thing missing has been his kicking game which has not been as good as at Leeds but that is certainly not all his fault rather a much higher standard of oppostion kick pressure.

Sadly for English RL I can't see him or Ellis winning - unless he has a wow of a game on Saturday.

Ellis has more of a chance than Sinfield. Tbh I think it's only fair that Greg Inglis gets it, he is, after all, the best player in the world.

Sinfield Golden Boot contender?

I was reading it in the League Express today. It is organised by the Rugby League World - who are the same people that own RL Express. The judges are made up of a couple of Aussies a British judge and the media. In the League Express it has Graham as the winner of the Rugby league World player of the year so why is he not nominated for it.

Your not looking through "red & white" glasses are you? I rate Kevin Sinfield highly, both as a player and leader/example on the pitch, he has for too long been over looked and not given the credit he deserves. Awards are not just for one team

Did you post before thinking and make a fool of yourself? because had you been to the last 3 grand finals you would have seen 3 very very good performances from Sinfield, including this years man of the match. Those games were in the "years" that you were posting about.
