Today, Easter Sunday April 12th, St Helen's own Lancashire Cup Winners, Bold Miners U13's & Portico Vine U15's, will be crossing the Pennines to represent the NW Counties against their Yorkshire Juniors League counterparts Stanley Rangers U13's & Featherstone Lions U15's at Shaw Cross ARLFC, Dewsbury in the first of a new series of "War of the Roses" annual challenges.

Well after two great games it ended up honours even with Yorkshire 1 Lancashire 1.

Bold Miners U13's won theirs, after a couple of scares, 24-20 against a very strong and never say die Stanley Rangers team. A nice gesture on the part of the Bold players to dedicate their win to the memory of the late Leon Walker.

Portico Vine sadly, despite a brave effort, couldn't hold an extremely well drilled Featherstone Lions in the U15's clash which ended 32-12.

Both games were well supported and we'd like to thank Yorkshire Juniors ARL for hosting the day. Next Year, again on Easter Sunday, we at the NW Counties will be the hosts with the Yorkshire teams travelling over to us so mark it in your diaries now.

These young players are the future of our sport and are the potential stars of tomorrow - get down to your local clubs to support them.
