26-12 half time.

An impressive Oldham pack has driven Oxford backwards down the hill for most of the half. First try was well worked. The second was handed on a plate after consecutive Oxford sets saw knock ons in their own twenty. The next two saw forwards barge over after building momentum. A sloppy penalty for not square on the hooter didn't help. Oxford have looked good on their rare forays forward. Oldham fans felt the first wasn't touched down and the well worked second had a forward pass but I was near the other line do not sure.

The Oxford defence is generally good but Oldham have enough quality to punish rare errors. A harsher referee could have caused us a few problems too.

Brett Robinson and Sam Gee, ex Skolars, are going well for them. They also have two Superleague loanees playing.

32-12. Kick off out on full. Played out five then the kick hit a defender and into the hands of an Oldham player on the line.

38-12. Set up by a 40-20. An offside penalty on the set saw Oldham get another go and good hands saw them over.

38-18. Excellent break down the right was halted short but Alex cut through the D at the play the ball. Lovely play by Oxford.

44-18. Oxford stuffed up at the kick off and had to drop out. A perfect kick on the last play the ball saw the winger pick our pockets. Superb kick by Lewis Palfrey.

48-18. They built momentum via speed at a few play the balls close to the line and found a gap in the D. Again from a Brett Robinson 40-20. Conversion missed.

48-22. Not sure who scored. Lots of bodies on line after a head shot penalty gained ground. Not totally convinced the ref was certain that was on or over the line.

Full time. Attendance 504. Some silly errors and a few too many tackles that looked high today. Plenty to like though and they kept going to the hooter. Oldham wanted a reaction after the Hunslet score and got one. They got scraggy once the game was dead but looked good when it mattered.

Must admit I was chatting to someone when the try was scored but I thought it was Rory.
