Referee: Warren Turley (Wigan)
Previoous Oxford game:
12/03/2016 - London Skolars 26 Oxford 16 (penalties 10-8 in favour)
Aged 26-ish. From a rugby league dynasty - father Norman played for Whitehaven and Blackpool, and older brother Neil for Leigh. Touch judge in two World Cup games in 2013. Was touch judge at Wigan v Wakefield last week. Here are the two brothers at Wembley:
Touch Judge: Ian Scott (Oldham)
First Oxford game as touch judge, but has been reserve referee before, most recently for the North Wales away game this season. Here's his own version of his record so far:
- 2010 Champions Schools Final Referee at Wembley Stadium
- 2010 Reserves Championship Touch Judge
- Super League début in 2012
- 2012 Valvoline Cup Final In-Goal Judge
- 2012 National Conference League Final Touch Judge
- 2012 and 2013 BUCS Final Touch Judge
- 2013 NR Bowl Cup Final Touch Judge
- 2013 National Conference League Final Referee
- 2014 Championship Grand Final Res Touch Judge
- 2015 Championship One Play Off Final Touch Judge
This photo's a few years old, but I think it shows good determination:
Touch Judge: Paul Cromer (Widnes)
Last time we saw him was as reserve referee at the Hunslet game this season, but has been touch judge or reserve referee at many Oxford games. Works as a timber distributor. I think that means that he stands on logs as they float down rivers, but technology may have moved on.
Reserve Referee: Tolver Arnold (St Helens)
First known Oxford game. Younger brother of Denton who we've had as touch judge twice this year, and son of Innes who is also an official at our level. In fact, all three of them were due to officiate at the fiery Oulton Raiders v Featherstone Lions game last Saturday (National Conference League Division 1). Denton as referee, the other two as touch judges. At the very moment I write these words, Tolver and Innes are touch judges for a Newcastle Under-19s game, so we'll have to hope that Tolver doesn't get too chummy with our opponents. He must also have run the St Helens 10k recently:
Match Commissioner: Darren Hayes (South West)
Was match commissioner for the Super 8s game at Coventry a few weeks ago. Originally from Widnes, but lives in Royal Wootton Bassett. Is also a Conference League South referee. Five years ago refereed the West of England conference final with his two sons as the touch judges.
