On the train home after an enjoyable weekend. I wasn't optimistic at half time. Oxford looked set to go in 10-4 up after JJ charged down a late kick and then ran/staggered nearly the length of the pitch. However a soft knock on set York up to draw level on the hooter and you felt they still had a gear or two to find.

An early 2nd half try eased nerves and Oxford got better as the half progressed. 20-16 with a handful to go saw the kitchen sink thrown at Oxford but the defence was solid and a 78th minute try made it safe. Ignore the kicking stats, it was played in a gale.

York were disappointing but this was a good effort from Oxford. Apologies to the players for not sticking around to applause them off but I had to dash for a train.

The down side is Oxford lost a player with what looked a potentially bad leg injury. I'll hold the name back for a while incase it is bad and relations don't know etc.
