Cautious thumbs up from me. Won't go down well with some but I reckon he's done ok in a team that's played some of the poorest rugby I can remember.

Deserves an improved deal will not have been on much money for a full time pro athlete.

I'm pleased for him and think it's a good signing. He's been a usefull addition to the squad although I do question slightly a 4 year deal after the Golden and others experience, would of thought 3 would of been better for us

He wouldn't have had 100 apps at this stage of his career in the Sinfield era squad ,but considering how we have declined a new deal fair enough, although 4 years ?

He deserved an extension for his commitment and effort this year. I hope 4 years is not too much; he's still got lots to prove, time to develop, and will no doubt be pushing for an England call up, but he still has some way to go IMO.

Ryan Hall-lite, or Francis Cummins-plus? We can't afford superstars in every position.

I'm not sure about 4 years but he seems to have matured a lot as a person as well as a player, he seems to speak with a lot more knowledge and authority when in interviews, when he first came on the scene and I mean this with the greatest respect he always sounded a bit dim, but that was obviously lack of experience and confidence, so fair play to the lad

Not sure about 4 years but he definitely deserves a new contract. He’s been one of our best players this season. He’s near the top of the try scoring charts despite playing for a poop team. I know his defence has been criticised, but hasn’t he had to cover for his centre? And he’s pretty quick too-there’s not many others in our team.

Pleased for the kid, he deserves a new deal, but like others I think 4 years might be a bit long.

He’s not Ryan Hall, but he’s no Joe Vickery either. He will improve and already knows his way to the line.

Used to be good for at least 2/3 knock ons a game, hands like cows t1ts.

Much improved on that aspect this year. Steady, safe signing, if slightly uninspiring.

The new deal will include exemptions for being part of the England Knights performance squad so happy days.

What does exemptions mean?

Definitely your most improved & consistent player; some times the only player who came out of a game with any credit. Player of the season IMO, without being the most talented.

From what I’ve seen of him he looks a decent player, knows where the tryline is and makes good metres, defensively isn’t the best but can work on that

Its were we are at , a decent lad who tries hard but would never have got near the team a few years ago . Has improved and is probably our most consistent player this year . Another contract that is too long though , do we never learn !

Happy with this, think theres still some improvement in him, dont think he's even grew into his frame yet. In a couple of year when hes 25/26 i think he'l be a very good winger for us.

It's fine in the context of the current team. I'd hope that we're challenging for honours in the next 4 years. I'm not sure he's a title winning winger really.

4 years! Should have been 2 max.No issue with the contract renewal but as others have said he would not get near a top 8 team nor have got near our team of just a few years ago.

Offering long term deals to mediocre players from here is not the way to go imo.

20 appearances & 13 tries for the treble winning side doesn't rule out the possibility.

He’s had some good games for us this year and a couple of really well-taken interceptions. I dunno - if we had the rest of the side sorted you might want to strengthen his position, but he deserves more time to develop.

I wonder what we’ll do with Lunt and Donaldson.

I hope we give Donaldson another year He’s a really handy squad player with a great attitude IMO

Agree about Donaldson, depending on salary. He's in good condition and trains well, and I think we need some of that role modeling for the youth coming through. We do have a couple of senior players who could shed a few pounds...

Lunt has been pretty good I think - his distribution is good and he's pretty solid in D too. I was disappointed we let him go last time. Having said that if we could secure someone like Isaac Luke (I've mentioned elsewhere) then I would swap.

I have a feeling we might be treading water a little bit next year while we finish the "purge" and the talent in the academy develops. Give us 2-3 years and I'm feeling pretty cocky (assuming we stay up of course).

Im happy to see Ash get a new deal but like others 4yrs is too long imo.
I think it should be 2yrs with a 3rd option anything more than that should be for our elite prospects like Walker etc.
I still think the squad needs a sizable turn over both departures and incomings/promoted u19's and with the new Reserve league next year its going to be an interesting time.

Actually prefer him to Tom Briscoe.
2 years plus an option on a 3rd would have been better but then again he might still not be on that much for the first two years.
