 A heartwarming postscript to the World Club Challenge came to light yesterday when it was learned that Melbourne Storm star Ryan Hoffman gave his gold winners medal to a young Rhinos supporter in recognition of his sportsmanship.
Taylor Mail, a youngster who plays for Shaw Cross Sharks, had stayed behind after the game to meet the Australian stars who had just beaten his heroes by 18-14 in a classic World Club Championship match at Headingley.
When he met Hoffman he praised his efforts and that of the Storm and told him that 'the best team had won'.

The way he performed and the way he jumped around when Slater went in for the first try would suggest he gave it everything. The Storm players seemed genuinely touched that so many fans had stayed behind to congratulate them. |
