So not much more than the income from the Fielden transfer then, and certainly nowhere near the amount the business has been losing hand over fist for the last five to ten years.

Just shows that is was Mis-Management that caused this, and nothing else!

I've had several lengthy discussions with Adeybull in the past about our part in their downfall. Adey rather gullably accepted mis infornation he'd been given about the costs of this case and the amount of the settlement, as well as Leeds motives for bringing the case.

It obviously did not help but there were/are many more deep rooted, fundamental issues at hand.

The Harris money was a convenient way to deflect blame on to Leeds

A friend of mine held a senior position at the Bulls in the 90s and 00s. When they lost in the 1st round of the Cup in 1998 he was crying because he knew the financial devastation it would cause. They budgeted to WIN everything, every year. Anything less than that left a yawning gap in the finances. An absolutely ridiculous state of affairs which was bound to continue to spiral out of control.

They lost a shed load in ensuing commercial deals which were done in a panic to try to arrest the slide. The Directors saw cash tied up in stock and panicked into basically running the shops into the ground. This included moving to a supplier who sold them a wonderful story of how to make millions from the club shops, then folding and running off into the sunset. They then moved to being supplied by Joe Bloggs - again went bust taking Bulls cash with them

Decision after decision just dug them deeper into the hole. The Harris saga was only ever one element of their troubles

It is. But it's nowhere near the size of the hit that a certain Mr Hood told Adey and other supporters that the bulls had taken.

And the majority is spread over three years. Not one hit.

Ahem, what about the alleged transfer fee they got from Wigan for Noble? The first time any such fee had been paid for a coach!

I hope all the Hetherington knockers are taking note! All those that say he is a tight-ass and won't get his cheque book out. Well this just shows what happens when you do reckless things like that. GH has an excellent business head and one thing is certain, with him at the helm the club will always be financially sound. I mean the previous directors near banked the club being reckless. We remember 13 Aussies in the side under Malcolm Clift, all here for a holiday.

When the inevitable end comes and the Bulls are no more, it will be a sad day. To see this once great club brought to its knees should sadden RL fans. It will be tough for the coaches, the players, admin staff and especially the loyal fans, who share no responsibility for the mess the club finds itself in. I hope that the majority of Bulls fans and the wider RL community will see that the serial poor management of the business is at the root of the current crisis. I fear however that for some, the "Harris affair" will ensure that Leeds are in the splash zone for some of the blame, which in my opinion is totally unfair but will doubtless bring comfort to some.

I feel bad for the players and all the staff.

Yes it's bad for the fans, but they pay their money and it's something they do in their spare time. For the players and staff this is how they earn their living, there will be players and staff with houses to pay for and kids to feed and to not know whether they'll even have a job next week is terrible.

If the Bulls' last few years have taught us anything, it's that trying to buy your way to lower-mid table isn't sustainable in the long term.

Interestingly Mr Caisley was involved with the Harris debacle and yet he will probably take over the club within a week. Plus ca change?
