| I make it first time since 21-4 home defeat to Harlequins on 24th April 2009, he missed his one conversion attempt of a last minute Rob Burrow try.
So not as long ago as I would have guessed...tvoc, do you agree?

| Regardless of not scoring tonight, I think he's been in poor form by his standards for a while now. No lack of effort or application, but lack of technique and poor decision making from the skipper.
Is he trying too hard?

The pack not giving him much of a platform can't be helping. However his defense has been all at sea so far this season.

Kev's amazing but he's played nearly every single minute of every single game for the past two seasons. That's been in no way necessary, and is a resource-management failure.

I do. You may kiss the enthusiastic but amateur statistician.
The time prior to last night and that game above in 2009 it was in a 26-24 win V Bradford in 2006 with Burrow taking on the kicking duties after Sinfield had hobbled off after a collision with Terry Newton and Jamie Langley. It must have been a real bad one as Sinfield missed the entire next game.
[i'Bradford were leading 24-20 going into the final minute when quick hands by Ali Lauitiiti, Keith Senior, Mark O'Neill and Chev Walker worked the ball right and Scott Donald dived jubilantly over at the corner for his second try of the game to level the scores. With skipper Kevin Sinfield off the field injured, Rob Burrow was on goal-kicking duty. He had earlier missed twice from wide out, before landing two more straight-forward efforts. This was the most difficult of the lot, but the scrum-half kept his nerve to land a truly sensational touchline goal to edge Leeds two points ahead. Bradford failed to gather the ball from their short re-start and the hooter sounded as referee Phil Bentham signalled the scrum.'[/i

McDermott had that Quins side playing pretty well that year. Remember they were great defensively that night, or perhaps Leeds were poor offensively.

| Re-Sinfield missing kicks - I'm just glad I decided against mentioning that he'd been successful with his last twenty prior to the game. Wouldn't have wanted that on my conscience.

I've obviously not seen as much of Sinfield as Leeds fans have but do any of you think Sinfield would be better off used at hooker rather than stand off?
You've signed Lunt but I can't say I've been too impressed with him at hooker as he doesn't seem to read the game well enough.
Also Burrow, as good as he is running with the ball, doesn't seem to be much of a hooker given his style of play. He's undoubtedly very dangerous in that position behind a dominant pack and against poor marker defence but when it comes to generating some momentum for the forwards he doesn't seem as good as most other hookers.
I'm also much happier as a fan of an opposing team to have Burrow off the pitch for a large part of the game.
Sinfield did quite well at hooker for England because he reads the game brilliantly. I've not been overly impressed when I've seen Sinfield at stand off and I think Leeds would do better with a return to McGuire and Burrow or perhaps pairing one of those players with Ward.

| Interesting viewpoint, and in my mind there is no doubt Sinfield would make a good hooker, but he doesn't want to do it so it's not likely to happen. It's also true that much of his better stuff for England was from Hooker.
Whilst he has been a great catalyst for the success Leeds have had over so many years now, because he is so integral to what we do, when he's even a little off form we suffer as a result.
McDermott is exposing him now by asking him to defend out wide, presumably to try and avoid so much heavy traffic down the middle, but in reality all it's doing is exposing him to faster players who can go around him more easily.
I'd put him back to 13 with Burrow at 7 and McGuire at 6, when they are all fit. It's a triumvate that has served Leeds well over the years.

We have one of the game's best loose forwards at stand-off.
We have one of the game's best stand-offs at scrum-half
We have one of the game's best scrum-halfs at hooker
Where would be the sense in putting Sinfield at hooker?

Why aren't you playing those guys then instead of McGuire and Burrow?
