Why are people so obsessed with a player of such limited ability?

He's not a bad player, and equally not a great player. He is an important member of our squad only, as with a lot of other players.

Personally, and I accept I may well be wrong, but I have long held the opinion since the end of last season, that Bailey wouldn't play for us again, and I still stick by that. Not because of anything other than playing, as I just don't think the guy will ever get fit sufficiently again.

He's not the first sportsman (or anyone with a profile) to post something stupid on Facebook or Twitter and he won't be the last.

I'm pretty sure that Ryan Bailey doesn't think that the incident in Japan is a big joke. He has simply forwarded on a joke from a mate like so many others have done. The only difference is that he has a profile whereas the local idiot in the pub doesn't.

The club seems to be pretty social media savvy - expect a press release saying that the issue has been "dealt with", that all players have been reminded about their conduct on the web and that the matter is closed.

Then again, this is Ryan Bailey we are talking about. Starbug is probably on the VT handing out pitchforks as we speak.

This will be blown out of proportion as the anti Bailey brigade get into full flow, stupid thing to do, however i'd be very surprised if most of us haven't done something similar in the past. A slap on the wrist and a statement from Bailey saying it was a stupid and insensitive thing to do is all that is required imo.

Lets be honest. Everyone tells/passes on/laughs at these type of jokes when they cross our paths. Its not meant to be hurtful, its just human nature.

Ok, someone in the public eye (and I use that term very very loosely) needs to have a think about what they are putting out there but I cannot believe for second that even a big lumphead like Bailey would have meant anything by whatever he put.

Seems unlikely that the people in Japan currently have nothing better to worry about than what Ryan Bailey posts on Facebook. That said, he clearly needs to be aware that his internet activities are visible to a lot of people who know his employer. If I made a comment on Facebook which was grossly inappropriate (and I speak hypothetically as I have no idea what was written in this instance) and that was seen by people who know me in relation to my work, my employer would take a pretty dim view of it, and disciplinary action would be a real possibility.

Somebody should explain this to all Big Daft Lads using very short words, and pictures where necessary. They are, after all, employed by organisations who depend on the paying punters (TV, live or corporate) for the income which pays said Big Daft Lads salaries, so occasional engagement of brain wouldn't go amiss. There are many private spheres in which you can make all the crass jokes you want if that's your thing. The internet aint one of them.

Expect this to be quietly dealt with internally in much the same way as the alleged homophobic comments on Twitter by a Huddersfield player a little while ago (Kevin Brown?).
