According to the league express Ade Gardner is leaving Saints and has rejected a move to Salford.

Shaun McRae has stated that he is moving but not to Salford.

I just wondered whether he might be coming to Leeds as a replacement for Scott Donald?

Good or bad signing? He isnt world class but I like him and would do a job.

Not as good as Lee Smith IMO. Did OK for a while with a decent centre but way out of his depth in the big games

I'm not sure, is Lee Smith a better player? Or is it just blinkered Leeds fans who think that? Either way I can't see him signing for us anyway so it pointless.

I think potentially lee smith is better, and more adaptable to play several positions.

Lee Smith is a far better player than Gardner, who has regressed badly over the last two seasons.

you might have a point. The definition of a winger to me has been someone who finishes what a centre makes and you have to say, with great centres inside of him Gardner has done his job very well over the years.

However, just finishing isnt the whole job now. He is susceptible under the high ball. His try line defence is rubbish and his speed is dwindling a bit.


As for Smithy, I think we'll see a new player next season. A full off season to get rid of that raa raa weight. What Smithy might lack in out and out winger play he makes up for in his aerial ability and the fact he can cover a few spots in the back line. And hey, if it doesnt work out we can always give Watkins a chance.

I wasnt saying Lee Smith was better or worse but for Ade Gardner to bolster our back line options.

Our backline squad as it stands is as follows;

Fullbacks - Webb + BJB
Wings - Smith + Hall
Centres - Delaney, Watkins + Senior

Just think Gardner would give us another wing option whilst Lee Smith could play centre.

What about the new lad HARDAKER, I know that he is on loan back to Fev, but do we have a clause to recall him if needed?

I know we're light in the winger options.....a reason why I cannot understand the decision to keep Hardaker at Featherstone.....but for gawd's sake no. It's not gonna happen. Give the club some credit.

Cant see it myself, we seem to be trying to get a team that if push comes to shove can be rotated into various positions with little drop-off.

Gardner is fantastic from 5 yards out or flopping over the TRY line but as mentioned is heading in the wrong direction age and career wise. Im not saying that he couldnt do a decent job in a team that plays to his strengths but alas not Leeds.

Besides weve just signed Hardaker for the wing spot.
