quick question. i have an ipod nano and am thinking about getting an ipod touch. can i put video's from youtube onto the ipod touch?

If you Jailbreak it then theres a programme that enables you to download youtube vids.

Why not buy a non-Apple product that actually states on the box that you can play any sort of video format from any source rather than rely on Apple to let you fiddle its hardware ?

You can stream YouTube on itouches if you are connected to a WAP. As for watching videos, yes you can but you will more than likely have to convert the files format. There are many free pieces of software that can do this also there is a free website but I can't for the life in me now remember the name.

The rather confusingly named BBC "I Player" is nothing of the sort when you try and actually play anything on an "i pod".
Apple's jealous guarding of video and music formats can be particularly irritating. However, my Nokia phone can play any video or music format and has a 32 GB memory. The downside (and the reason why I still carry my ipod as well) is that the software that comes with it was written using a maximum of 10 lines of code by a year 5 during a 30 minute ICT lesson (may even have been my own 10 year old herself). It's absolutely diabolical and total torture to use (in the rare moments it doesn't crash).

I had the same experience with the Sony MP3 Walkman I bought 3 or 4 years ago. The first version of software just didn't actually work at all and they had to replace it completely (which meant re-loading all my songs again). Sony were also guilty of tagging their MP3 format (ATRAC) to make it incompatible with other players.

There is an app called iWoopie which does what you want. Its free, but doesn't always work

IMO ipods are vastly overrated, I still don't see what they do that other mp3 players don't do for 1/4 of the price and 1/4 of the hassle?

My sony is much easier to just drag and drop mp3s on.

thats about it. you send it to people, they see what you want, you (hopefully) get a surpise, rather than telling your mum you want an ipod, and your gran you want a ps3.

Having met Tad, I can report that he has calloused sausage fingers. The chances of him being able to operate an iPod touch are somewhere around the chances of Titchy Tiny Rod saying something astute.

i have been told a lad at work uses a youtube downloader, free to download, and you then drag it across.
hope this helps some of you,thanks for the help though

download youtube downloader.

drag the URL from whichever vid and download to your documents.

when downloaded drag the whole file back onto the youtube downloader.

convert to iphone, ipod, cell phone whatever.

when finished drag over to your phone.allsorts going on mine
