I agree with gingerjon. That piece has got the usual sneering undertone that always appears in Guardian articles about RL. For a northern paper it's got a poor attitude towards League.
Also agree with the guy who says that seeing good games of RL being played to almost empty stadiums is quite depressing. It plays right into the hands of the rah rah brigade who like to think that League is on its last legs. The least they could do is concentrate all the fans for a televised game into the bottom rows of the stands so at least it looks like there's a decent attendance.
