Halifax by the time the next franchise comes round will be in a better position than the same clubs that they were in a better position than first time round:

Salford - new ground my backside, where is it? The place is a dump.

Wakefield - lied, where is their new ground? There isnt one!!

Celtic - fast tracked wasted of time, full of second rate Aussies.

I think you're wrong. All the younger teams at the Crusaders are Welsh and there is rugby league being played in I think 11 local schools now. There are one or two real Welshmen who play for the first team occasionally also. If the first team begin to perform consistently, and their injuries haven't helped with this given they are a small squad (but the return of some injured players last night definitely did help!), then that will give something for the young guys to aspire to. It's very important for RL in south Wales that the Crusaders succeed. I don't think RL will get another chance as good as this to make a real break into (or back into) Wales.

And Halifax field a team exclusively made up of Calderdale players? Said, Frank and Dana have that real 'local' connection. Players couldn't cut it in SL? Dwayne Barker anyone? At least Ben Black isn't a NRL reject (Queensland Cup reject but not NRL).
Do you honestly believe Fax would 'go local' if they were awarded a franchise? If you want the game to grow, franchises like the Crusaders are the way forward, overdue, but still the way forward.
