My question is have we won any this year.

I guessing it maybe in 1 maybe 2 matches at most, if so its a habit we would like to get out of.

Leeds have 'won' the penalty count on five occasions this season. In the matches V Celtic, Manly, Les Catalans (1), Salford and Harlequins, so as you might expect all at home + in the WCC.

The two drawn counts were at home to Wakefield and to Wigan.

Leeds have lost every count (bar the WCC) away from Headingley.

In total penalties awarded to Leeds = 118, Against Leeds = 140

The Leeds centres were Tonie Carroll and Chev Walker while Senior shared the bench with Ryan Sheridan, Kevin Sinfield and Wayne McDonald.

That was also the night Ben Walker missed that conversion from in front of the posts as well.

Adam Hughes scored 4 tries for Widnes in that very game, if memory serves me right i'm sure he was on our books as a youngster?

Too laid back was young Adam. I once had to tell him Leeds were attacking from the kick off when he dutifully took up his defensive position by the corner flag at an 'A' team game. Summed him up really.

Bloody hell. We have really been taking an hammering away from home then. To say we have won 5 penalty counts and drawn 2. To have a difference of 22 against, must have been some batterings.

I am quite surprised we won that many.

I remember Bluey saying after playing Saints away we'd win the penalty count in the cc match and again Mr Bentham came up trumps for them!!

Cant believe i've not written Mr Ganson as well, i've never forgiven him for penalising burrow for clapping his hands against Wigan that time and cost us a point.

Looks like we have certain refs that do like us and others that definitely don't. Ganson seems to have the "fairest" stats which might go against popular opinion on here...

I can't recall a penalty been given this season that I didn't understand or would particularly take issue with. I think the problem lies elsewhere to be honest.

It's not that simple.

I always get the impression that Ganson is careful to 'lvel up' any penalty count when the game is settled.

A trick learned at the feet of Russell Smith, the master of that particular art.

I think the issue is that whilst the penalties that we concede are generally correct decisions, we seem (in my biased Rhino eyes) to be penalised for offences where the opposition don't & that is the problem.
I don't think that we get penalised a lot for hands in at the play the ball but we do get penalised for continuing to work the tackled player, for high shots & for offside when we're defending near our own line.
Lee Smith for example last night & Scott Donald against the Bulls or was it vs Saints when he shot out of the line intercepted the ball & ran the length of the field?
All we ask for is consistency.
I agree totally with the point about Ganson & Smith, it all depends when in the game pens are conceded. With Smith it seemed that we were hammered until the opposition were out of sight then he evened it up when we were too tired to be able to take advantage.
Having said all that last night Allibert penalised them at least twice on the fifth tackle, true coach killers.
Finally, whatever we may think I don't believe that refs are biased & without them we have no game.
