| I have a hunch for awhile all the seating in both stands will sell out and looking at the roof and the sides I think it will still generate an atmosphere

Think you are right. Once all the stands and revamp is complete if we have a decent team ,potentially we could leave the rest of super league light years behind.
That’s all for this year, could I wish everybody who post on here a happy new year.

| This is my only worry, the roof from the atmosphere side but obviously we won’t find any of that out until completion. However, the more I see the Stand go up, the more I like it.
Guessing the builders will be back at work tomorrow to continue.

It has been thrown up quite quickly hasn’t it? The seeable stuff from the camera is like metalwork on the roof and then the metalwork on the standing area is done in one day and then they added the concrete cast the next day.
I personally think that the 2k tickets that will be available is in what we see now, but with the half fully complete.

| Weather permitting, I reckon the majority will be finished come the end of March. Seriously looking forward to the North Stand taking shape over the coming months.

Penalty clauses are illegal. Technically they are 'Liquidated & Ascertained Damages' clauses. [iThey are pre-determined damages set at the time that a contract is entered into, based on a calculation of the actual loss the client is likely to incur if the contractor fails to meet the completion date. They might include, rent on temporary accommodation, removal costs, extra running costs, and so on.[/i
I would be amazed if someone as astute as GH or Caddick didn't include them, though if Caddick are doing the work it would be an interesting discussion at board level.

As long as I have known, which is too long. People inside & outside the industry often refer to them as penalty clauses. It doesn't really matter what they are referred to. What courts would do is look at whether at the time the contract was entered into, the level of liquidated damages reflected the parties' genuine pre-estimate of losses likely to be suffered in the event of a breach of contract. If so, the clause would be enforceable. If not, the damages would be viewed as a penalty and the clause would be unenforceable.

this was Carnegie College it had to be painted while the students were away on their Christmas break 1968 . As I remember it was twenty five pounds a day if the contract went beyond its time . They paid us some good money to get it done.

| With it being Caddick building it, I doubt they'll be any monetary clauses, just the project manager might feel a bit of pressure

That sounds completely feasible. Damages for late student accommodation is usually a frightening amount. If the accommodation is late you could be into £200 a week per student x 1,000 beds, plus transport costs, professional fees etc., to put them up elsewhere. What you might be talking about is acceleration costs, either paid by the client to the main contractor or, more probably, main contractor to sub-contractor, to avoid having to pay damages for late delivery.

They have now applied for extended working hours on the Saturday beyond the morning only working allowed up to now so it sounds like they are feeling the time pressure already.

There has only been one Saturday morning where I have seen them working via the cameras of course. Personally wouldn’t be surprised if it gets extended.

| The limitation on working hours will be a planning condition as part of the planning approval. An application (& fee) will need to be made to the Council to amend/relax the condition. It might be that the case officer can determine the application or it might have to go to the planning committee (Councillors).
Conditions are applied (in theory) to enhance the quality of development and enable development proposals to proceed where it would otherwise have been necessary to refuse planning permission, by mitigating the adverse effects of the development.

| I'm no builder but can anyone explain why they seem to have built one half almost entirely, but not even started on the other?

yes, south stand is single stand so literally half the size of the dual main stand, its also a simpler design, it started well before main stand started. ground works and preparation for the dual main stand will be longer as its a more complex design. once it starts to go up it will go up at a similar rate to the south stand.

| No, no. I meant why have they seemingly built half of the new South Stand, without touching the other half.

ahh see what you mean, well its not suspension bridge so they don't have to meet in the middle. but is simply that its built in a serious of phases ground work starting left to right then steel then, concrete then fit out, first fix final fix decoration, each trade will follow on in that way, so by the time they get to the end of the main structure they will have started or partially finished fit out at the start, ie seats toilets, then electrics plumbing etr.

No, the area toward the Carnegie Stand will be the first opened and then carrying on whilst each section is completed.
I think that it’ll be the Carnegie stand where the entry to south Stand is for now.
People that are worried about the sound with the roof being high, I’m told that the club are going to alleviate this problem by installing microphones and speakers that magnify the fans noise.
