another section of the roof today started today. Going by last time, this should be completed tomorrow. Another section of the standing area started with the first walkway from underneath the stand now visible.

Hope that's some sort of fish-eye lens effect we're seeing on the camera otherwise that roof is starting to look decidedly droopy.

Was nearby today so decided to have a quick drive past to see it for the first time, the size of the thing looks even more impressive than you see on the live feed even at this still quite early stage.

Might be opposing views on the seating/standing arrangement but visually I don't think anybody will be anything less than impressed.

so when is expected to be open and will it be all completed ?

Update on the ground works.

Another section of metalwork completed on the roof.

The start of the metal bollards appearing throughout the standing area.

Another section of standing area started with the first stairway in place to underneath the stand. Concrete base should be put in tomorrow on this section.

Called in today to get my dads Xmas present,had a sneeky look from the Carnegie terrace. Its going to be a very impressive stand I reckon, imagine the Carnegie stand but full length of the ground.

Not sure why the club is only opening two stands for the Hull KR ER game.

Club says they want a record SL crowd then only open up about 16-17k worth of seats.

It’s 2 stands for home fans and a 3rd stand for away fans. Elland Road holds 37,000 we wouldn’t want to be spread across all 4 stands.

The open stands hold
Home east stand lower 10,000
Home north stand 7,000
Away south stand 5000

And they've said the West Stand is for community projects so all 4 stands will be in use.

i for one cant wait to use the new stand, i was in the carnegie seats when that opened and it was a great night

Well being one of many opposition fans whose bantered with the best of them that Headingley was no better than Belle Vue, The Willows and Odsal, I have to say the new stadium developments will put you right up there with the best stadiums in the game.

It’s a shame that the East stand can’t have something done but that’s a small criticism

Did we take out a loan to build the Carnegie Stand? If so is that now paid off or are we still paying for it?

I think Leeds metropolitan University paid the bulk of the cost. I'm sure more knowledgeable posters will explain

The Carnegie Stand (cost about £7m) was paid for out of Leeds own cash reserves. Leeds Metropolitan sponsored it, fitted out their teaching rooms etc but it's a myth that they built it or even paid for the core build.

Remaining cash after that plus another decade of profitable trading since then built up about £5m which was supposed to go towards the current redevelopment. It's still not clear to me how the South Stand fits into the Legal and General finance arrangement which was mostly to keep Yorkshire and the council happy. Leeds had enough money to pay for a good chunk of that side in cash.

The more I see of the new south stand the more I like it. For years we had decent season tickets in the north stand but gave them up. So quite fancy seating season tickets in the new south stand. Should imagine they will be hard to obtain. I presume existing south standers will have first choice. Anyway if any are available I will be in for them pretty quick.
