| Looking at the latest photos, I’m not too keen on that standing area in the south Stand, looks incredibly lower than I thought it would be.

But you have to make sure the seating has the better view - they will be paying considerably more.

For the wooden seats, the official line was that, because the were all connected together in rows it was impractical to remove them one-by-one. Not sure I fully buy that but it would definitely have been a bit of a fiddly job. I am surprised they didn't get a local company to offer a service of cutting them apart and maybe mounting them into a usable seat even if they didn't want to do it themselves. The stand stood around for long enough after the final use for it to be done.

It only holds 5,500. I think the classic SS could take up to 10k before it had its capacity cut due to safety issues, so it will only be just over half the size (in terms of sqft)

The stand also has a greater rake so the back of the standing section will be almost as high as the back of the old stand.

| Seating areas can't be as tight as they once were, but new build terraces allow for the maximum density of spectators permitted by the Green Guide and therefore local authorities. Older terraces tend more to being compromised in terms of modern safety regs, and are therefore licensed for lower densities (such as the SS in recent times)
The maximum density for the number of spectators in a standing area is 45ish per 10msq (without checking) and that number is reduced when certain other factors are deemed insufficiently "safe", such as the strength and arrangement of crush barriers. The replacement SS will obviously achieve 45ish per 10sqm, the classic SS presumably did when it had a certificate for circa 10k, it certainly wouldn't have been higher than 45ish
You're right of course that the increased rake will make it taller relative to its depth

Every time I have looked at 'live feed' links posted on here it has usually been this sort of time of day when daylight has broken but before the sun comes up. Looking at both the links just now, Leeds is in full daylight and it looks like it is about noon. Are these really live, or do I just keep tuning in to look at a loop / a paused image?

| The trouble with live feeds is you get every H&S expert in the UK ringing up to say "I am watching your live feed & there is presently someone unloading a concrete mixer without a helmet on".

The key I find is to go to youtube using the link then look for a more up to date one from the right hand column.

Turns out the SS only ever held a max of 8k post-Taylor
I checked the depth of the new terrace and it's about 13m. The classic SS was about 20m. Not quite 5.5/8ths, but there or thereabouts

I’m still thoroughly disappointed that the new stand has gone ahead in this design

I never thought I'd want to sit down. Did 30 years in the old SS, but people get older and going away to grounds with seating more and more often has gotten me used to it. We moved to the Carnegie a couple of years ago and I like it in there.

| Interesting times ahead, Yorkshire CCC play the same day as Leeds v Wigan on April 13th. Expecting Rhinos May play at Elland Road.

Well Leeds vs Wigan is always a tv game. Are they going to be set up for a Sky broadcast by then with a studio (even temporary) or main camera position? Sky will want to as usual show a decent chunk of Leeds matches throughout the year and won't want to miss some of the big ones.

that would make sense. easy access from motorways for traveling fans, reckon this was played Sunday afternoon could get 20k plus. reckon if we promoted it well could go for a record super league crowd,

| Just had a look at the Sky fixtures and we're on Sky at home 4 times. The current Elland Road matches vs KR and Cas the aforementioned Wigan clash and Hull in Round 5.
The Saints and Warrington games later on in the year aren't yet down as being on Sky even though they are always normally chosen (they've already got some games as late as the last three regular rounds listed such as Saints vs Wigan, Wigan vs Warrington).
That Hull game in Round 5 you'd have to wonder if Headingley will be ready for a Sky broadcast with both main stands being worked on. It's also on a Thursday as a stand alone fixture for that night so they can't just switch and show another match. So one thing that may have been overlooked in keeping games at Headingley is the Sky factor.

| There's already a temporary camera position set up on the North Stand side. Accomodating Sky won't be an issue.
