| Quote ="Ferdy"God it's embarrassing to be a Leeds fan sometimes with posts like these. IMO McDermott was right to rest a lot of key players ahead of the cup final. In reality winning the hub cap means very little and players like peacock after a big effort against wire needed the rest prior to THE CUP FINAL.
That team were good enough to win today and showed it by being 20 points up at some point. That was a perfect opportunity to play some fringe player and rest a few, against London and people trying to put themselves in a shop window to claim a bench spot. Let's be honest there was plenty of tallent in that team more than enough to win.'"
Correct.I'm very frustrated we have tossed away 4 points against the bottom 2 sides but some of the reaction is way over the top.The side that played yesterday had internationals and senior squad members throughout and should have comfortably won, and with a 30-8 lead looked like it was going to.
I'm still very confident we will get the job done on saturday and i fully expect when we do that certain posters come on this thread whilst eating some humble pie.

I think you deserve an award - for the most ridiculous comment ever posted on this board. And there's been strong competition over the last few years!
As has been said many times already this morning by a few sensible posters - blame for yesterday should rest entirely with the players on the field that threw away such a commanding lead.
McDermott got the team selection right IMO. But has been shown time and time again on here, he can't do right with some people. Posters on here cry out for key players to be rested/rotated and Academy players given a chance. So that happens, before A CUP FINAL and we lose what is in the grand scheme of things, a pretty irrelevant game.
So if he'd have gone all out and picked a near full strength team, we end up winning by 50 but at some point Sinfield, or any key player, gets injured - I guarantee you there would be a longer thread than the 'joke' (very aptly titled) one that has so far reached 6 pages. With the same posters bitching and whining that that player shouldn't have played.

| Sinfield, Peacock, Burrow and McGuire were never going to play in that game coming a week before Wembley but the rest probably could and arguably should have been selected.
Yet another two points needlessly given away by a club allegedly after top spot.
The club this morning are a laughing stock.

You will of course have statistical evidence to back up your claim?
i suspect that Hull may be even more of a laughing stock after all they haven't a cup final to look forward to or probably even a place in the playoffs.

Are all opinion's expressed on here backed by statistical evidence these days? If not why should mine be any different?
Besides which if every non-Leeds fan isn't having a laugh at Hetherington, McDermott, 'Sir Kev', 'the greatest Leeds squad ever assembled' and our (the fans) expence this morning then they are missing a golden opportunity.
London's last SL win of any kind was last year, their average result in SL this season before yesterday's game was 14 - 46. At Odsal Hull got turned over by a team in some recent resurgent form under their new coach - makes you wonder what Bradford may have achieved if they'd ditched the always nice but always laid back Cummins sooner?
In our own tipping comp 8 entries tipped Bradford to beat Hull (you had Hull to win by 8 - hardly a walk in the park territory then?)
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=573005&tsmp=1408365292
Not one entry foresaw a Leeds defeat at winless London - there again only one foresaw a home Leeds defeat to Bradford a few weeks back and modesty prevents me from identifying who that was.

In future to make such lighthearted or facetious comments clear I'll append a smiley face.

| Like or loathe the coach, there is only so much he can do. That embarrassing last 20 minutes was 100% down to the players on the field and their lax attitude. Nobody talking to each other, nobody showing any leadership, nobody taking hold of the game and closing it off, nobody showing any urgency etc etc. These are things that during the game a coach has little or no control over. The game was lost long before London's last try. The players simply stopped putting any effort in.

Who is laughing at us?
The Bulls as they head to the Championship? Warrington or Saints who won't be playing in teh cup Final on Saturday courtesy to us?
As we head off to Wembley (yet again) on the back of fantastic financial results (yet again) without fear of administration or relegation I'd genuinely consider any other fan or club who were laughing at us as lunatics, which would still rank them above the majority of Leeds "fans" who post on here in the gene pool.
Let 'em laugh (if they are), who cares?

Like I read what one opposition fan wrote.
"I'd gladly lose to London if the reason was we were preoccupied with a Wembley Final the following week.....instead of having the week off like we will have, Leeds MIGHT not end up with a trophy next weekend....but we definately WON'T end up with one. I'd rather be in their position."
Regarding the apparent lack of concern toward the CC, it's amazing that the similar posters used an early exit in 2013 as a stick to beat McDermott and this team with ("no we can't expect them to always come through in the big games like some of you claimed"icon_wink.gif.......now we're back in the final it's just a nuisance on the landscape towards the LLS apparently.

What you are saying in effect is that the players decided it was just not worth making sufficient effort for this coach.....perhaps they suspected that no matter how much effort they expended they just might not be rewarded with a Wembley place with this particular coach ??

For me it's more a case of the RL is a laughing stock. As I stated elsewhere the club and the players have made it patently obvious on the playing field where their priorities lie....it is not their fault that the RL agree to such a structure and playing calender. The LLS is obviously the first to suffer in perceived credibility....and will continue to suffer until there is more incentive otherwise.
I am not condoning Leeds' approach to the regular league games and thus of course the paying supporters, but I can understand it

What a load of tosh! I sometimes wonder why some people claim interest in this sport when they so obviously lack any understanding of the game. You and a few of your chums have been having a go at McDermott for almost four years now. You are on record at admitting you got it badly wrong for two of those years. Here we are once again, in with a great chance of winning all the trophies and all you can do is snipe.
Both the coach and the players each have their own responsibilities. In this particular case it is naive to judge the coach to be responsible for the loss of two points. The timings of the interchanges is also a red herring. The loss was the responsibility of defensive mistakes by the players out on the field.

Well if we win our last 3 matches we will be on 38 points. One of these is at home to Saints who also have to play Warrington and Huddersfield away which they could also lose giving them 36 points. We also play Wigan who have to play Widnes and Warrington so if we beat them and they win there other two they finish with 36 points.
While it would be nice to win the LLS the main events are really the Championship and the Cup and so all the coaches will want their key players fit for the playoffs so some could get rested to heal niggling injuries in the last 3 matches. There could well be a few twists and turns and surprises left.
