Talking of the salary cap (yet again) we get Diskin for half-price next season as only half his salary counts to the cap as it will be his 11th season at the club. How close are others to becoming discounted players on the cap tvov?

I understand that it is your 11th season at the club and not your 11th first team season, so to speak. Robbie and Danny must be close?

Actually, you can use more than one player, but the aggregate saving on the cap can be no more than £50k combined.

Also, it does say your first season is when you make a salary cap relevant appearance for the club? When did the cap come in and what does that mean strictly... I think I know but not 100%?

Well that answers that then, we get our £50k discount and I am sure use it all up again! So our maximum cap value is effectively £1,650,000.00. I suspect quite a few other clubs will be claiming their £50k discount too.

I know saints are and probably warrington with Lee Briers. Maybe Wigan with O'Loughlin. Apart from that, im not really upto speed with how many players from other teams have have been playing for 10 years at that club.

Which basically means one player given the salaries the players earn these days.

At Warrington we have Lee Briers and Paul Wood!

O'loughlin is still only 27 and only made his Superleague debut in 2002.

OT, How do you decide who gets a testimonial?
if all three started the same year then why is it only Disko this year?
will it be both Rob and Danny's turn next year?

I think it's one per year mate and Disko was next in line.
I know Peacock was granted one at the same time as Jjb but that was a services to RL 3 mth one not a specific club one.
Of course i could be wrong but that's how i read it at the time.

IMO it should be Rob Burrow next year, due to starting a few month before Danny McGuire.

I've no idea which criteria the RFL use to award a player a testimonial but bear in mind those dates I've given are their Leeds 1st grade debuts rather than the dates they joined the club and perhaps that has a bearing on the decision and/or the order.
