Are you saying that anyone who has played for the same club for many years can be classed as a "West Yorkshire Rugby League Legend" irrespective of ability or level?

I think Legend is banded about all too freely. Teh opening poster on this thread calls anyone a legend usually, for example.

However, Dickens is a Legend of that one club Featherstone. Not just on the number of appearances made. But that he turned down opportunities to move out of loyalty to fev, his points scoring records, and his number of appearances or more relevant number of man of match awards for that club.

Well it got people's interest, and that's really all his tweet was trying to achieve.

It might only apply to Featherstone, but the title still fits.

Just to extend your logic further, West Yorkshire is in England, England is in Europe, Europe is part of the World.

Dickens is not only a WY RL Legend but a World RL Legend.

It doesn't matter whether someone in Vietnam or Namibia have heard of him or Featherstone, as the world have not heard of James Deighton either. He is local radio only, i.e. West Yorkshire, and it is that audience that he was reflecting to. Featherstone is West Yorkshire, simple as, and it can't be any clearer, that as far as Featherstone is concerned which is where Deighton was alluding to, then Dickens is a West Yorkshire RL legend.

Your's or my opinion doesn't really matter. And anyone who seriously says they have not heard of him, really needs to take a good look at themselves if they are calling themselves British Rugby League supporters.
