It is this season but Bentham has controlled Wigan wins in previous years including Leeds' visit to the DW Stadium last season. That said in the SL Regular Rounds he's not a massive fan, with 5 Wigan wins from 17 fixtures, 29% ouch, even worse than Child with Leeds.

Those Child figures are for his entire 1st grade career though not just this season.

A 'Smith coached Warrington' may not have recorded individual victories over Wigan, Leeds or Saints this season so far , but he has coached them to a consistantly higher level than two of them. Check the current league positions for confirmation.

looking at child's games on sky he seems to be the biggest homer i've seen in a long time. his 'display' in the saints v hkr game was embarressing.

The titles on offer this season will ultimately be decided by knock out football not league placings. Being able to win run of mill league games might not be enough.

In that respect Warrington (even a well coached one) still has much to prove.

Most games you will be able to, but i'd prebooked, because there's a strong possibillity the game could sell out.

No, you'd be struggling if you did. There used to be a phrase used on here 'flat track bullies' and that currently sums up Warrington's season. Should have beaten Wigan ..... but didn't, probably should have beaten St Helens ..... but didn't, probably should have beaten Leeds ..... but didn't.

It's something that Warrington will have to get to grips with if they want to win either of the two 'trophies' still up for grabs though. Perhaps starting this Sunday?




It's mattered in the past, Warrington have rarely raised their performance to that required. It'll be interesting to see if Tony Smith can change that for Warrington, he did at Leeds, so you can never say never. (If it can't be Leeds' season then Warrington would be my choice with it's ex Leeds connections, fellow underachievers, never been outed as salary cap cheats.)
