Hetherington makes it clear in the full interview that he included the highly successfull Leeds side in his view. Saints fans who crow about themselves been called "the entertainers" would tell you that Saints have not been as entertaining the last few years like they were when they inherited that nickname. This despite been successfull.

Learn to differentate between things. I thought you would have realised over most of the last 10 years, that the game does not revolve solely around Wigan.

If GH isnt prepared to name who hes having a pop at then why does he mention it at all? Whose actually got anything out this interview? I dont see how admitting in an interview that we've slipped behind the times is going to put bums on seats, also saying were going to win our games by the best attacking rugby and everyother team should follow suit is aload of old tosh when Wigan a team hes having a 'secret' pop at played by far the best rugby in the comp. Maurice Lindsay knew the game had moved on and got out maybe GH should follow his old chum.

Besides, Wigan didnt play the best rugby last year. They were very structured, a lot of kicking to the wings and games won on defence. Warrington played by far the more attractive rugby last year.

We all only 'know who he is talking about' because other people have picked up on the same thing. If Wigan didnt do these things and had an attractive attacking side which wins because of its attacking skill, then you should be supporting Hetherington and be even more desperate to get these things out of the game shouldnt you?

I have no issue with the increase in defensive wrestle in the game. I do have an issue with a lack of attacking ability to sufficiently break it down.

When the play the Aussies, or less so the Kiwis, do you think that we will beat them just by being able to defend a bit better, or will we have to be able to break down their defence with high quality attacking plays?

We need to improve the quality of our league in terms of both defence AND attack. They are not mutually exclusive.

I might share that sentiment without the "winning" being included. I gained no pleasure from Wigan winning. I was as ambivalent to it as I was any other team, bar Leeds.

Playing beautiful rugby league is a must and winning a game is a bonus. It’s about winning and losing games gracefully. As long as Danny Buderus throws at least one magical pass in a game, then I don’t care of its outcome.

Batleyrhino makes a very good point in saying that all teams in SL need to improve the quality of both defence and attack.
The England squads we have sent down under for the World Cup and the recent Four Nations were awful.
One problem being that every single player played at a standard lower than they are capable of.
Super League does not appear to prepare players for International Quality Rugby League becuase the standard is nowhere near good enough.
GH would be far better asking for an improvement throughout SL to both aspects of the game as it is that improvement we are desperately in need of.
