| Quote ="Fames"Very true what you say. Leeds have undoubtedly been the best team in SL 2015.
Also agree about Smith and have been saying this all year. And lots of fans on the Wigan forum are again saying SW has to give Rocky Hampshire a chance to form a half back partnership with Williams at SL level - they were excellent together from U16s -U19s.'"
Williams was superb for Wigan and so was Farrell.
On Phil Clarke...rewatching he puts in the most petulant bit of commentary after Leeds' third try. Everyone else saying what a good try it was, but Clarke ignoring that and focussing on it leaving a difficult kick and Sinfield not being a good kicker from the right touchline(!). He shut up for a good twenty minutes after Kev put his kick through the middle.

| His pre-match conviction regarding a Wigan win was a huge gamble on his part. He'd just been shown up by Carney and the replay of his post Cas prediction. But he stuck on message about Wigan being a better "team" as opposed to a bunch of individuals like Leeds.
In fairness he made some not unreasonable observations and many "pundits" had Wigan for the win, but it is his almost religious enthusiasm to back against Leeds at any opportunity, and his willingness to go into extraordinary detail as to why they will fail (which ultimately turns out to be total bulls**t ) that sets him up on a podium all on his own. Ever hoping for the day he can, uncontrollable with excitement, shout at the top of his lungs "TOLD YOU!!!!!".
Not tonight Phil. Not tonight.

| Actually, seeing as Jon Wells and Carney do all the intelligent match analysis and Clarke couldn't accurately predict sex in a brothel I'm assuming he's in line for Stevo's job end of next season.

| Thank you for beating the pies tonight. The fact that they are whinging over an apparent knock on makes it sweeter. Last year, it was Lance's unconscious face that got in the way of Flower's fist that robbed them of a certain victory.
Dirty, cheating pies with their spud headed coach gettin their just desserts.
You deserve your title. You play the game in the right way. Enjoy!

He was saying what he wanted to happen as an ex Wigan player.
Too biassed for a commentator. Sorry Phil!

What do you mean even? Carney and Wells are the only decent analytical commentators on the SKY RL coverage. Wells IMO head and shoulders above the rest.

| We should have had a penalty after Danny's second try for Farrell's flip. In fact, the amount of flops by Wigan was ridiculous and not 1 penalty. So much was let go by Thaler last night that the pies have nothing to complain about. It was a game between a team playing rugby and a team intent on wrestling. The better team won for the good of the game.
Really hope there's been filming behind the scenes this year to make a documenatary. It would be a great advert for the club and sport as a whole

| On my return home from Old Trafford last night and watched the entire Sky Sports production. I spent the first hour laughing my head off at Phil Clarke's wisdom.
After the game I think he mentioned that he thought Leeds were the best team of the last 40 years. Was I dreaming at this point?

His exact words were "arguably", so at some point he will almost certainly argue against that they're not.
Keep that door slightly open Phil.
Honestly, I don't think it was a particularly good game. There were some intense periods but there were a lot of unforced errors. Wigan were effectively shut down for long periods of the game and when Leeds scored on 63 minutes they crumbled. The last 15 minutes were probably hell if you were watching live but on replay Leeds killed the game stone dead and Wigan had no ideas and no gas left. Most of that last period was played 20 metres from the Wigan line.
If I were Wane I would have been wondering where all my leaders were hiding. Apart from giving Mags a trademark facial while he was on his back the Wigan skipper did a Leon Pryce. Only George Williams looked a threat.

| ^^^^^ well put DHM, i can confirm the last 10 minutes was awful viewing in the stadium especially from my view of not being able to see the screen,so no clock. It seemed to go on forever! it was far from the best game seen at OT i agree but it had all the tension in the last 20 minutes and again we showed how to close it out. I thought we would go away in the second half with the 10 point lead but credit to Wigan they fought all the way and had they not gone for the 2 and played for the try i feel they could have done it,that was the gamechanger for me and all the momentum Wigan had built up at the start of the second period seemed to disappear.
Special thanks to Phil, truly inspirational speech after the Cas game seemed to be the catalyst for the great end to the season . please, feel free to write us of every year

| Surely no-one really wants Clarke to vanish? He's an integral part of the pre-match whenever we're on TV and he does add, in some very minor way, to the pleasure of beating Wigan. And actually you know your team's pretty special if he pauses jizzing over them to hand out the odd, back-handed compliment.

Indeed.I think he should be given the freedom of the City now after inspiring us to the treble.
What would be hilarious would be if the Southstand sang his name and gave him some sort of thankyou chant on the way up to the gantry next time SKY are at Headingley. That would enrage him more than the usual heckling he gets i would think!

| The man is so anti Leeds it is ridiculous. He manages to recover himself mostly and say something that even he can see is true, but in match comments when Leeds are playing are so biased. I know that Barrie and Stevo tend to be supportive of Leeds but their not biased. Clarke will see very decision that is marginal as needing to go against Leeds.

| Clarke does favour wigan.
When he's commenting, if wigan are under the pump he'll turn it round on the other team ''every team has to deal with adversity and X team are only 8 points in front, the momentum will swing and I THINK wigan will post more points when that happens''.
But if roles are reversed he says something like ''Wigan are looking very good here Eddeh, even if the momentum swings I think they've taken too much juice out of X team......''
Basically whatever the situation, no matter what, he paints it in a positive light for wigan. Even if they are well beaten he'll paint it as a positive for the rest of the season. Of course he praises the opposition when they win but it's a constant stream of ''good situation for wigan'' which spews from his mouth, which you don't get from him for any other team.

| Jon Wilkin has far more personal experience of bad days and crushing defeats at the hands of Leeds than Clarke, but he manages to park that when he's commenting on TV. Maybe if he's doing TV work after he's retired and Leeds play Saints he might struggle but let's wait and see.

Have to agree with this. Given how much grief Leeds have given Wilkin during the course of his playing career (and how much of a w*nker I think he is on the pitch) I have to give the bloke a lot of respect for how he conducts himself in the role of TV pundit
