8k apparently. 4 really bad att's this weekend. Something needs to be learned. Either make the games part of the season ticket or half the prices.

| No matter how many times I look at this new palyoff system I’m really struggling to work out what the advantage is from finishing top.
If the RFL are viewing this as an experiment then it is looking like it’s a failure;
There’s no advantage from finishing top.
It overly complicated and no fekker understands it.
The ‘Club Call’ has the potential of being a poisoned chalice.
Attendances for the first round are poor.
I just hope they put it down to a crackpot idea that didn’t really work and revert to the old six team system.

What is the issue? Last year the team that finished top played at home, we did that! Last year the team that finished top had the easier route to Old Trafford, we got that too. If anything, we gain the club call advantage, so finishing top has an extra advantage.
And it isn't difficult to understand it, my friends 7 year old grandson gets it so clearly it isn't difficult!

Don,t think there is any advantage other than the home game. It could Leeds v Hull KR and Saints v Hudds again when both teams have already beaten the oppostion.
Take Leeds for example beat Hull KR comfortably at 44 - 8 play again in the 3rd round Hull KR beat Leeds 12 - 14 with a controversial penalty, does the "best team" go into the final.

Well I tried to explain the palyoff system to the other members at my weekly MENSA meeting and none of them really grasped the concept.

If the prices were halved, apart from Wigan, all the clubs involved this weekend would lose gate money but I suppose they'd make more on all the ancillary stuff. But at least the grounds would look full.
I was surprised (& I bet the clubs were really disappointed) at the turn-outs at Wakefield & Wigan since both these games were knock-out games unlike ours & Saints.
I find it hard to fathom how you can support your team all season & then not attend when the result is critical.
Watching it on tv just does not compare with being there.

| The play offs are perfectly understandable.
Whether the system is any good is open to debate though.
My favourite system remains the original top 5 play offs.
Every position from 1 to 5 was better than finishing the one below. To me that's how it should be.

| the standard of the games have been more worrying than the attendances. Where has been the intensity that Eddie and Stevo were banging on about pre game Friday?? In Not one game could you tell it was a play off match IMO!

I agree. More surprising in the sudden death games than those involving the top 4.

| Thankfully we've now got the ph(f)oney play offs out of the way, so we now have the top 6 and no more second chances just like proper cup ties.

The trouble is with our game and Saints' game from this weekend, theres nothing really really important at stake.
Under the old system, every game bar one saw your club's season end with defeat.
the only game where this didnt occur (the 1st v 2nd Qualifying Semi), and you got a second chance, was when a place at Old Trafford was up for grabs.
neither of these options were possible this weekend, and it has surely affected attendances and intensity. (although I've no idea where the intensity was from the elimination games either, so go figure)
The sooner the RFL gets rid of this system the better IMO.

| The only sensible play off format is:
1 v 2 - Winner to GF, loser gets a week off.
3 v 4 - Winner through to next round, loser goes out
5 v 6 - Winner through to next round, loser goes out
Winner of game 2 plays winner of game 3 at highest league placing teams ground, winner plays loser of game 1, loser out.
Winner of game 4 plays winner of game 1 in final.
Actually isn't that what we had before they started to bugger about with the system?

I think it should be
1v8
2v7
3v6
4v5
Winner of 1v8 plays winner of 4v5

Yeah, but we never beat them in the play-offs do we? I mean, we had to play them in 2004, 2007 and 2008, and look how wrong everything went for us then.......
