pointer to make on this highly detailed prose from the SUN...its the Head Coach on the NFL sideline who makes the call.
Nothing to do with captains in the NFL, each coach gets 2 challenges and if they get them both right(rarely happens) then they get a 3rd, they also lose a timeout if they don't get a challenge right(which is why they can't challenge if they have run out of timeouts and why they only challenge big gamechanging plays) and in the last 2 minutes of each half they can't use challenges, they have to come from the booth(would be 3rd official in RL)
