Always liked Brad Hepi as a player. Not the most talented players we've had but he always gave 100% which endeared him to the fans

Plus he added a bit of biff that we've been missing for years

Not afraid to get stuck was Brad - reminded me a bit of fellow NZ Brendan Tuuta. We have had some good NZ players at Cas Tigers over the years.

The triumvirate of Nikau, Blackmore and Kemp will never be beaten IMO.

Hepi got mixed up with is tackling he thought you had to tackle above the shoulder

Have to agree with you,all of them were terrific for us (Nikau was probably the most naturally gifted player ive seen at Cas)

Absolutely correct on that definately. Three legends of Castleford Tigers over the years. If only we could have them back in their prime and throw in Dean Fritz and Adrian Vowles...Brad Davis too and we'd be so difficult to beat.

If you think about over the years the calibre of players we've had, not only overseas but English too.

It's a sad state of today's game where player power rules. It used to be about the pride of playing for a club, not about the amount of cash you made out of it

Agree with that. They were also around at a time when we had a number of quality players and were one of the top 4 teams in the 1st division.

I often refer to them when talking to a Bulls supporting work colleague who's only known the Superleague era. There's undoubtedly many younger fans around that are completely unaware there was a time when Cas were one of the top sides and the likes of Bradford, Huddersfield etc etc were no-marks.

Unfortunately unless a miracle happens and we get the new stadium built I can't see us ever returning to such happy times for Cas...

they were happy days but they came at a cost, when Vanderveld was the coach, he had no interest in the academy and let it go to pot, he put a quality team together, but when the brass ran out he left, & tried to take the players with him, that was start of the decline, the only way Cas will get to the same high-ts is 1, we get a sugar daddy, or 2, the fans buy in to the tigers, and we start getting 8000+ gates
