Well it is near on mid-season. Who would you pick as your player of the year so far, and why? As it's probably going to be a Rangi landslide, please choose two players and lets see which other players people are rating so far this year!!

Kirk Dixon

Rangi Chase.

I went for Dicko and Rangi - but I think the real secret of our progress to this point this year is that one person has not had to be the star.
I could equally have gone for Emmett, Huby to his injury, Mathers, Youngquest until injured, Danny for the effect he has had on liberating Rangi, Ferris - there are probably 7 or 8 candidates people would vote for and therein is the big positive.

Huby. 1st half of the season he has only missed 3 games but we forget how good he really was.

Rangi and young Daryl Clarke, Who's got to be in the running for young SL player of the year if he keeps going the way he's started the season.

Stuart Jones for me, the guy has been imense this year. Simply brilliant, might not be pretty, but every good team needs one.

Mathers and Emmitt

Voted Rangi Chase.
Though Emmitt is a very close second.

quite a few players deserve recognition and here`s my list.

mathers-a steady influence at the back who rarely makes mistakes from kicks which has been the norm for cas full backs for many a year.

youngquest-arguably the best winger in the league before picking up his injury,i think a drop in form from us conincided with him and huby getting injured

dixon-what a player he`s turning out to be,he has improved every year he`s been with us and his goal kicking has been a massive bonus.

chase-up their with the best players in the league when he has a platform to build from.

huby-fantastic all year before his injury he has finally has started to fulfill the promise we always knew he had and lets hope his return see`s the same form.

emmitt-wasnt expecting too much from him tbh but he`s proved a real quality signing who does his job with no fuss given.

clarke-what a bonus he has been to break through this year,if he doesnt play for england in the future then the aussies better be worried and if he does they still should be worried the only worry would be can we keep hold of him.

milner-without been in the same class has clarke he is a great foil and like roby and cunningham i believe their is a long term future for both clake and milner to be legends of our club.

I've gone for Dixon and Emmitt.

Dixon based on the improvement made on his kicking conversions. It is obvious to me that he has put a lot of time and effort into this part of his game. Time + Effort = Results + respect

Emmitt based upon the metres that he makes, and the commitment that he gives. An excellent example of which was when he had massive contributions to the game after looking like he was sparked out during the Wakey game

Most improved player is Dixon.
Huby would have been PoTY before his injury.

On that basis, got to go to Rangi.

Yet to miss a game personally, and generally speaking, our potent attacking threat has been Chase, obviously, the danger man close to the opposition line, unpredictable at times, but dangerous against anyone. Our best forward, for me has been Emmit (why Saints let him go is beyond me). Daz Clark has been sensational, for such a young kid, he will get better. It's all about Clark / Milner now, no room for Hudson. Our best 3/4 has been Dixon, his overall ability to finish has improved and as has his goal kicking. He's gone from being someone you wouldn't back unless under the sticks, to someone who'll nail 9/10 from anywhere on the park.

As noted above the great plus point of this season is that we can debate numerous candidates for this award though Rangi is the stand out choice - got to be an outside chance for Man of Steel if he maintains this form to the end of the season!

Pleased to see Dixon getting a lot of mentions. Was saying to my Dad the other week the 2 players you really don't want to see missing off the team sheet these days are Dixon and Chase.

Dixon has become 1 of the best goalkickers in the league as evidenced by his 8/11 in very difficult conditions on Sunday. Plus he invariably seems to find his way over the tryline when given half a chance.

I trust the few fans who were suggesting pre-season that Dixon shouldn't be in the 17 if everyone was fit feel suitably embarassed now!

Our dip in form seemed to coincide with the loss through injury of Youngquest and Huby. Pretty confident that with the former in the side we would have won the games against Wakey, Quins away & Saints and with Huby in the side we wouldn't have gone down to the same extent againt Leeds & Wire.

Mathers and Clark.

Its a tricky one, Rangi has been great, as has Danny, but also Richie Mathers, Craig Huby would have been in there too had it not been for the injury, but I've gone for Rangi
