Might get slaughtered for this but not as well as last year unfortunately. He has picked it up a bit since he came back from injury but Shenton is the best out of the young lot here at the minute imo.

Got to agree tbh.
In saying that though i think TM as played him all wrong this season.
He's just hitting the short ball all the time, he as no space to work in.
Still a great tackling machine though.

Yes well done Shenton and also well done Myler, Hall and Tomkins all young players making the cut which is good to see, lets hope they all get a game although I doubt Tomkins will.

What happened to Ainscough mate ? Looked a quality winger one of the best in SL when i have seen him ? Pretty sure he is English too ?

Have to agree. Joe has not been at his best this year but, IMO, will definatly be the No.1 choice for England/GB in the near future.

3/4 of his skill set absolutely wasted by TM. Keep this up and he'll look elsewhere in a year or 2 IMO

Westy's tackle count is through the roof this year. He's not being played as creatively as last season and more teams are aware of the threat he poses - so they man up on him.

Not worried on him missing out this time, he'll be there in coming internationals.

Like i said some of you are deluded and think we should be a top 4 team. We only got back up in 2007 ! 1 and a bit years and we are in the playoffs.

as for westy i still think he's been outstanding this year... hence tony smith including him in the train on squad,, work horse in defence and a guaranteed 15 metres when he is in possession of the ball

Just because Cas are CURRENTLY in the playoffs doesn't mean Matterson is all of a sudden some sort of genius

the full strength line up for Cas is excellent, and Westerman should be played in his proper roll - out wide linking up with Shenton & Owen on that left edge.

Never said it was a good idea to play him there i am just saying that this Matterson has took us to the top 8 at the minute which is a good effort. Nobody says that Matterson is a genius but he has got us playing some outstanding attacking rugby and the recruitment of Rangi Chase, Mitchell Sargent etc can only be classed as quality signings.

We have a got a very good squad at this moment in time and are still building but you have one person to thank for that side that is excellent - Matterson. We have made very good progress on the pitch lately and even though Matterson has played Westy out of position (which by the way i don't agree with) you cannot argue with his record.

Also Smith has spread his picks around the league so maybe he's not wanting to disadvantage one team to much for that week.

His attack his awesome, one of the best finishers in the league and lightening quick. His defence has been patchy which meant he has been left out of the team by Noble.

Ah right he gave you something imo and had a massive part to play in bringing you out of that rough patch at the part of the season. Was baffled to see he wasn't in the 19 and should be playing 1st team Wigan rugby imo.

In your opinion, so no, not end of. Jeez, what is it with this board, nothing but negativity, I would as far to say that some 'fans' are only happy when we lose so they can pick out the faults and their own scapegoats.

Also amazed at the staggering amount of potential coaches we have masquerading as 'fans', clearly TM has no idea and should seek their advice post haste.

I think you are quite right.

Westerman is having a much more difficult time this season - partly as a result of sophomore blues; partly because he does far too much tackling; and partly because we are not creating the busts out wide for him either.

Still think he is THE major prospect - but this should be a gentle reminder of minor issues.

Well done Shenny - also not at his best yet this season, but thought on Sunday the signs were looking better.

Yes, he should listen, we need another option for kicking, we need a cool head who can read, and change the pace of the game, we need another creative half, we need someone to support the forward breaks---hey, I know a player that can do all this

But hey, you know best. Me? I put my trust in the coach incumbent who has significantly more credentials than either you or I. He has got us into a good position atm due to his team selections and tactics and I see no reason to start doubting him now.
