| Well got back after a busy weekend, and just wondered what everyone thought of the weekend?
Personally thought it wasn't as good as Cardiff for a number of reasons:
The stadium being away from the city centre limited people for eating and drinking, when people came out of the stadium to grab something to eat they didn't seem to return.
I was absolutely freezing by the end of both days, however in Cardiff the roof mean't we didn't get the biting windchill. In cardiff people appeared to watch most of the games where as at edinburgh people seemed to drift away after their own team had played.
However what really annoyed me was the feeling of being ripped off, whilst in the queue for a drink and noticing the price £3.50 for a pint to then be told by a couple of Scottish people in the queue that the price for the drinks when union is being played was nearer £2..Also after buying a bottle of coke I asked for a plastice glass and was told if I wanted a glass I would have to pay for a pint of beer but just take an empty glass.
I was impressed with the transport system £3 for an all day ticket aint bad.
The magic weekend is in Edinburgh next year and I won't be going, if it were to go back to Cardiff yes I would.

| I travelled up to Edinburgh yesterday morning and returned home today, this was the first magic weekend I've been to and I really enjoyed myself.
Sure, the prices were a bit steep on the drinks, but I figured as much and just went along with it.
I found that there was plenty to do, plenty of friendly banter and entertainment all day long. Me and my mate got there at about 11 and had a mooch around the ground and then went around to the back of the stadium and took part in a few of the games going on there. We got talking to a couple of people outside, one of them a Hull FC fan and had a good chat about the weekend and the game and then we went and watched the first game from the East stand which was a great view.
We moved to the upper North stand for the Cas game and for the first half I thought the atmosphere was great, the Cas fans split up for the second and it wasn't as good but those who stayed, we were still singing our hearts out but it wasn't meant to be scoreline wise.
After the Cas game we went to the lower North for the Leeds game and stuck around for a bit but once that game was effectively over and the "main event" not half as appealing as many of the other games over the weekend, we decided to leave Murrayfield.
Went into the centre later on and it was great to see so many fans out in their team shirts. We got talking to a nice couple in the Whetherspoons who were Hull KR fans and were chatting to them for a while and then spent the rest of the night in a small room singing songs with some Bradford, Leeds and whoever else fans. All in all, a long day but great fun and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't been.

| myself and three friends went for the weekend, and all agreed it was nowhere near as good as cardiff. the stadium if too far out of the way, its way too expensive and it is impossible to get into any bars or clubs, i got sick of hearin, not tonite lads!! ( i dont consider 4 people to be a big group??) one bouncer actually asked for id, looked at it, and then decided the place was full!! Did anyone else have similar trouble? i couldnt help but feel unwelcome and uncomfortable in the city. The welsh were much more friendly and accommadating. we will be making a weekend of it in cardiff next year when we play Celtic.

| Was it suposed to be Magic It was the first one for me and the last in Scotland if it goes back to Cardiff I may give it a go, But I think we need to play it in a smaller stadium it did'nt show Rugby League in a good light with there being so many empty seats
The day was a complete shambles firstly someone was in our seats second we had a smoker on our row who went out evety 15 minutes for a smoke we were also up and down every few minutes for someone to go the beer tent. Away from the field there were drunken zombies staggering about bumping into everone they should have stopped at home and gone down to the pub and watched the game on Sky and not spoiled the occatioon for other people
I'm not against having a drink by any means but you should know your limits
I enjoyed our game until blunder boy at full back lost the game for us

| Think ticket situation was pretty stupid. We payed for end tickets behind posts and ended up going in every stand following the sun Obviously we wern't complaining but for those who payed more to sit at the sides it was a bit of a waste of money!

I bet we don't hear them noises on boots n all on Wednesday. It will be all rose & dandy from them. But they don't have to pay for food or drink do they.

| i loved the weekend but the day itself was yet again more misery than magic,i hate been ripped off and thats what we got with the food and drink outlets and god knows what would of happend had it rained on the day with no cover other than inside the stadium which was like been in a freezer with the wind swirling around.by the end of game three id had more than enough and left frozen fed up and out of pocket.
next year i will watch one game "cas" and leave for the hotel where they knew what hospitality was all about without me having to take out a bank loan to pay for it.
cant see it been taken away from edinburgh next year because im sure richard lewis and friends were treated to an all expences weekend and watched the games from the warmth of an executive suite whilst been wind and dined foc.

If you pay £3 for a bus ticket, it lasts all day and you can hop on and off wherever you want. Buses stop right outside the ground in both directions, so can`t understand why you had a problem. And on the main road were plenty of hotels serving drinks and plenty of eating places within a short walk.
I found the Scots very friendly and even the gate steward wished us a safe journey home and hoped to see us again soon.

| fair enough on the travel, 3 quid isnt bad at all, but the food and drink were very very expensive. in the main nightlife spots we were gettin turned away left right and for no reason at all. i no several others that were having the same problems. imo it wasnt as good as cardiff and i wont be going back. btw im 21 as are the friends i went with and maybe this was the problem with gettin in places. i just dint have a very good experience. i also know 2 guys that were jumped and badly beat up spent the night in hospital, and are having ops at ponte tomoz, and granted i dont no the full details but from what im told it was because they were in fancy dress!!

| We got the feeling some of the Scots didn't want us there. We had to go into pubs in three's. My mate got thrown out of one for farting. I was called an "english c***t" while buying a pint. The worst thing that happened to us was two lads we were with got jumped in the street on the last night, the attackers jumped up and down on their heads! For absolutely no reason. They spent all night in the hospital.
I have been to Scotland on many occasions and I have never come across this before, I like to think a few numpties knew we were coming and decided to make a bit of trouble for us.
It wasn't all doom and gloom though we still really enjoyed our trip, the highlight was bumping into all the Super League refs in a bar on Sunday, I got my photo with them all while pretending to punch the gimbaloid that reffed our game in the face. To my suprise he seemed to think he'd had a bad game too, describing the pretend punch as "fair enough". To be fair to the guys they were all absolutely spot on and I wouldn't fancy doing their job.
Another big plus were the Hull FC fans who were smashing as usual.

I'll look forward to his public admission of such. If I'd had my hands on him immediately after the game it'd have probably been a real one.

Agreed, and I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you and your friends had. I didn't notice anything of that nature going on personally.
I know following the Hull FC game I was in the queue at the bar and as I got closer the person who was serving the queue I was in moved further down the bar, so I convinced a Hull FC fan in the queue just next to me to let me go first. I convinced him that it was the least he could do after what just happened in the stadium.

| People were getting turned away from bars left right and centre and not just down Rose street etc....
We were a mixed bunch of various ages and sexes and we got turned away when it was obvious we weren't after aggro.
Even some of the player's parents of different clubs got turned away.
Hardly welcoming is it?

Hardly welcoming is it?'" I think it is fair to say there were quite a few locals who didn't want us there. I found the people of Cardiff to be much more welcoming, I also thought the atmosphere was better as most pubs were down one street leading up to the stadium. I will be there next year though as is one of the best lads weekends you can have.
It does make you wonder if the RL could ever make a success of a club north of the border.

Trick is to really kick off at being called English, let em know your a Yorkshireman and feck all to to with England. They'll probably buy you the pint then
