form is temporary, briers is class and that permanent wouldn't want him when we get a lot better suited players. i wouldn't complain if we did sign rangi but thgink we could get a lot better players from the nrl.

IMO he is not, he's different and not perhaps the type to replace Briers like for like but I wouldn't expect the average Wire fan to have the objectivity to recognise that. Seems to me everytime a player is rated among the best in his position your lot can be relied upon to claim you have someone better...even in the academy.

I think Danny Orr is a quality underrated halfback, i rated him when i watched him at Quins and thought he would be a great signing for you if he stayed injury free, i was definitely proved right on that.

Orr is more important imo to your team than Chase.

Disagree, Chase is our only real X-factor player. Orr is no longer a matchwinner in the way Chase is - and was before Danny returned.

Surely you must realise it is more than a coincidence Cas' form has improved, with the return of Orr?

Orr has been fantastic for us. Very consistent but he isn't the sort of stand out player that will win man of steel. Rangi is.

When Orr came on the field against Rochdale, we instantly looked better organised.

That is pretty much my point. Without Orr there, Chase is rudderless.

Chase as been our best player for a couple of seasons.
He's even better now orr is at his side.

Rubbish. Chase did it all on his own last season. We had stand in half backs all season long. Widders etc and stand off.

The Chase rumour was posted on our board to see if we could get something we made up into the national press.

As for signing him,after tonights performance I'd hate him to be Briers replacement. He'd struggle to get into the Wire team, especially after being outperformed by Gaz O'Brian on his SL debut.

Chase performs when Cas are winning but goes missing when your performning poorly. Completly anonymous tonight.

Chase performs when he's playing behind a pack. He can't perform miracles you know. Contrastingly, swap chase and O'Brien and O'Brien would look rubbish and Chase would look amazing.

No half back in the world could have helped Cas tonight. Chase had no go forward from his pack. Added to the errors he simply had nothing to work with.

Had Chase been playing behind our pack he would have had a field day and Eddie would have been starting an official fan club.

It wasn't too long ago that Briers was getting slated by some of our fans when he had a really poor team around him.

Personally I'd have him at Wire in a heart beat. Fantastic half back.

If it wasn't for the date of your post, I'd swear you posted this 5 or 6 weeks ago. Where have you been for the last few when every team has stuffed Cas? (Now that they are playing better sides).

I'm being straight up mate, not saying he's s--t or owt but in our current squad, sorry but no.

Behind a pack like Wire's Rangi would be awesome. Maybe you didn't see anything special from him on Friday (neither did I barring the wasted 40-20) but that's because we stupidly took the game to you up the middle and got hammered on every play - our front 6 were never in the game and there was no room for Rangi to do his stuff. Well played to Wire for snuffing Rangi out, but I've seen many a game where Briers has suffered the same fate behind a beaten pack. At least Rangi didn't get a strop on like Briers would have.

As previous posters have mentioned - playing behind a weakened pack that was being dominated by a better team. No half back would have been able to perform in that situation. Everybody can try and be a smart@rse after the event, eh?

Over the years I've watched the likes of Andrew Johns, Alfie Langer & Peter Stirling appear rubbish behind a totally dominated pack. Not suggesting for a minute that Chase is anywhere near the class of these greats but if you'd have swapped Chase & Briers round on Friday night there'd be more than a few fans suggesting Briers had had his day and ought to be retiring or stepping down to a lower division to finish his career...
