How on earth Sheffield managed to keep 13 men on the field until a couple of minutes from time I don't know. They were continually laying on and interferring at the tackles for which the referee penalised them and warned them. If he had stamped his authority on the game by sin-binning someone it wouldn't have resulted in the brawls we saw towards the end of the game.

On reflection perhaps it was a good game for Sam to miss, as I am sure the Seagulls would have done there upmost to wind him up

Yes, I'm serious. As a ref myself I can't quite believe the pure incompetence of Mr Turley. I agree, it kicked off because he had no control, but that's what happens when children referee adult games. This man needs removing, for his own good if nothing else.

First of all - well done fax to grind out the win. 3 major moments in my opinion. The serious injury to brown def helped our cause ; the eagles looked pretty short of attacking ideas and the two fantastic try saving tackles by Patterson in the first half and bannister in the second. Overall happy with the defence but definitely lacked a cutting edge up front. Bit tough on Nash getting binned - too me i thought he ran over and tried to seperate fighting players ; the look of disbelief on his face was a picture.

Yeah i agree the couple of big efforts in defence won us that game, patterson on henderson on the stroke of ht and bannister in the corner in the second half, he injured himself in the process but it was the desire to put his body on the line that impressed me. It wasnt pretty at times but you could see the effort was there. Worrincy said in the south stand lounge after the game that the training sessions have been murder but if it proves the difference in winning and losing then the boys are all prepared to do the extra work. Today just showed the fine margins in winning and losing. I was frightened that we were going to throw the game away at the end. Aizue was massive again, he looks alot fitter this year than last, a wins a win now lets kick on from here. Anyone know what the penalty count was today?

Sheffield made bags and bags and bags of mistakes. Too interested in niggling too. The fact that we struggled to capitalize on them meant that you should have won. Aston petty attitudes have rubbed off on his niggling dirty-tactics players. You lost a game you should have won. Blame your daft coach instead of the ref. Him and the fans need to move on from their whining over Worrincy and Barlow. Let it go man . . . . .

We did some stupid things today but I am delighted with our defence and I am relieved we managed to grind a win out and show that we can win ugly. Lets hope with the week off next week we will have a a few bodies back for the very difficult trip to Leigh. Really happy we got a well needed 3 points today. Up the fax.

Absolutely agree with you, how on earth he allowed Sheffield's first two tries is beyond me, as clear forward passes as you'll see. Then again he gave us quite a few decisions that baffled me. At least we can agree his performance was garbage, just garbage for both sides....

3 points are better than none, and that has happened to us too many times this season. As for the Ref lots of things missed but at least the lines men came on the pitch a few few times today and in Faxs favour. But once again how many forward passes missed, laying on and teams off side by not getting in line with the official.

Thought ref started out ok, not letting Eagles mess around at play the ball, but then he seemed to get bored of penalising. And once the spoilers knew he weren't going to sin bin them they just kept on pushing it as far as they could. But lets face it, we know thats how they play. Funny really that tactically the 2 most similar teams in this league are Eagles and Fev, Aston and Powell. Then again coming from what were 2 of our games slowest half backs then maybe its just to keep the pace of the game they whey they liked it.

What happened to eagles goal kicker after 5 mins ? looked liked it could have cost them

IF anyone did say that, it must have been a single person, said once and a mutter rather than a shout. I certainly didn't hear it and throughout the time the player was laid out the crowd were fairly quiet. When he was finally stretchered off it was to applause from the entire crowd.

I suggest you heard a single stupid comment from someone in the crowd and are trying to insinuate that a section of the crowd were repeatedly chanting it which was clearly not the case.

Think your scraping the barrel here, we were in the south stand and didn't hear anything like that, A very loud applause when he was carried off.

Note to Dr Badvibes, applause when someone is carried of is a good gesture.

However, can't help thinking if he had gone in to tackle Rob fairly he might not have got injured.

I don't usually like posting on other team's forums cos I hate getting involved in slanging matches, but I just wanted to stick my two penneth in about the whole Brown incident. Here's what I have written on our forum:

One final thing, when Brown went down injured I thought a small section of the Halifax fans were an absolute complete and utter DISGRACE. It was quite clear he was seriously injured, didn't move for a good few minutes and was having a neckbrace fitted, allegations of time wasting (after a minute? sums up their intelligence level) comments such as "get up you girl" and "this is rugby not football" were completely uncalled for. Added to that abhorrent creature they call a mascot mocking Simon by laying on the ground while he was, left a really poor taste in my mouth.

Now I'm not saying it was wholesale, it was a minority but I DEFINITELY heard comments. And the whole mascot thing was pathetic, maybe it was in a light-hearted manner but it's hardly something to joke about is it? Luckily it looks like Simon is going to be ok but for a while it didn't look good at all.

Not sure a Wednesday Wendyball supporter should talk about a mans game.
