Just to let everyone know who might have had an interest in one of the town's longest established amateur RL clubs, there's an ex-players & coaches re-union at their Spring Rock clubhouse on saturday April 9th. I understand they've chosen that date to tie in with a home fixture so please tell anyone you know who might be interested. What an absolutely fantastic night we had last night in the company of a couple of legends. Ken Dean former player & coach and Bill Kirkbride former coach were just a couple of the many dozens of people who made it up to the Spring Rock based clubhouse.
Well done to everyone who had a hand in making it such a success and a special thanks to Pete Emmett for giving up his time to o a spot on the mic interviewing a couple of people and working a rather boisterous crowd very well, myself being one of his targets as well as a couple of other drunken big mouths !
I've never seen the club look so packed and well done to Simon Cooper for making it over from Germany and staying awake so long after leaving home at 3am, great to see you again buddy.
I'm sure anyone who's ever played a team sport will appreciate what it's like to meet up with so many old playing colleagues, it really was a great event & I hope we have many more of them in future years.

Was a great day. Managed to play for a young greetland side and what a great evening! Thanks to Barry Dyson and others for making it happen. Great to meet up with old team mates from 10-15 years ago. Col always good to chat but even better in person! Pete was great even with a dodgy mic and a well fueled audience! Great bloke as well chatting to him after. The evening summed up what Rugby League is about. Players putting their body on the line and turning out in all type of weathers and come win, lose or hammering a few beers after. So many great memories. And yes I was knackered at the end Col getting up at 3am to get a flight is not a great way to prepare for a game and just a shame my fitness was not the best.

And you're the only bloke to play RL for Greetland with three generations of my family, awesome record mate, well done !

It was indeed a superb do and it was nice to catch up with people we had not seen for 40yrs or so. Pete did a great job as usual keeping everyone entertained my favourite of the night when in response to one of the hecklers he said " you have to be the only chinese player in these parts" for someone else to pipe up! no theres 2 of us " as both Beaumont brothers were there.
Maurice Bamford gave it a miss but there was a Robert Redford look a like there.

Probably thought he might get lynched
