What a loony, he brought in Schofield with no coaching experience ( 2 games as Yorkshire U18's coach does n't count) so what does he expect. And if they are overpaid, he's the one who made them that way.

Des turned up at Training Saturday morning questioning Gary Schofield and Nigel Wright as to why the team were training at 9am on a saturday the day before a match and saying he wasn't happy about it, got a bit uppity when the response was "we're the coaches and we'll decide when we coach them.

The guy is a moron, yet still a lot of Barrow fans seem to want to defend him to the hilt. Its great that he has put so much money into their club, but his ridiculous meddling must be insulting to the people he has employed to act as coaches. Its also pretty insulting that whenever his side of mega-stars (they're not really mega-stars, just overpaid journeymen living off past reputations) lose to one of the divisions so-called smaller clubs (Dews, in this case), he goes off on one of his press rants. The same happened after we stuffed them at the Mount last season.
Throwing money at a football club might guarantee success, but in a division where a lot of the players are similar in terms of general ability and quality, I'd wager he's paying well over the odds for guys who actually aren't as good as he perceives them to be.

I think it's just that the Barrow fans are terrified of criticizing Des in any way as they are terrified of their sugar daddy walking away. I can understand that to some extent but there is a limit. He should have launched his tirade to the team and coaching staff behind closed doors in a professional manner and limited his press announcement to the fans as something along the lines of "They know how unhappy I am and have been told in no uncertain terms that I expect an improvement".

The trouble is that he's such an ego-tripper that he can't resist being in the limelight at any opportunity.

Schofield is a pleb anyway.. He is thicker than 2 planks... Nearly dropped one of his own players in it this past week!

It should never have been released to the press. He has every right to question the ability of the coaches and playing staff, but it should be done behind closed doors and through the coaching staff only. He's lucky no-one planted one on him.
