Signed for Swinton,would have liked him here.Had a good season in a poor Leigh team 2 seasons ago.Swinton seem to have more Leythers in their team than Leigh.Should be a good game when we play them,but why is it a Friday night not good on the M62 at that time.

Swinton are playing games at The Willows this season so perhaps they are having to work their games round those of Salford

Very suprised we released him, only young lad with miles of potential, already a top goal kicker. Reminds me of what Neil Turley was like at times, timid yet a great boot, except Morty can cover on the wing aswel. If it is true he has signed for Swinton i think its a great signing for that level.

Should have signed for us when he had the chance, he would have come on leaps and bounds under our coaching staff instead of going backwards at Leigh.

Looked good in a poor Leigh team 2 years ago as mentioned above. Couldn't get a look in last season when were a better team. Now signed for Swinton. Think thats fairly self explanatory really...and as for the comparison to Neil Turley....

Looked good enough in a very poor Leigh side( a bit like Miles Greenwood) for us to make him an offer. He turned it down re-signed for Leigh and ended up at Haven and now at Swinton permanantley. I dont think his career could have got much worse under our coaching staff.

Widnes were also interested in the lad, but fair play to him he stuck loyal. One problem he had was getting past Donlan, a top quality Champ full back, at Fax may have got a start with Royston in centres initially (didn't work out to bad for you eh) and Widnes didn't have anyone take ownership of the 1 jersey throughout the season tbh Ford, Yates and young Craven did a fine job at the end of the year!

He's still young and with a full season at Swinton he could still rise to the top of his game, having experience like Smith & Watson will help him immensley and also McCormack who isn't everyone's cup of tea but the guy knows how to create a winning team!

So you're basically saying that he could have got in to the 'Fax team, even though he barely got a look in at Leyth because of the form of Donlan?

Im saying he would have improved more under our coaching team leading to appearences in the team.

I've always been of the opinion that Ian has a number of skills. Now that is always a useful starting point. What is needed (IMO) is coaching to iron out his weaker points - and all players have weaknesses. Whether that coaching is from Ian Millward, or Matt Calland, is a moot point. Anyway, Steve Mac now has that opportunity and I hope it works for Ian, because he is a cracking lad, with talent. I, for one, hope he comes back to Leigh at some point, as a better all-round player, because I believe he is Leigh, through and through.
