I couldn't make the games against Dewsbury and Featherstone due to being away. Managed to catch the Fev game on sky. Overall i'm pleased with the progress the team has showed during their recent good run of form. I enjoyed the Fev game on sky and I just sat back at the end and reflected that the better side had won. Guessing it would have probably been more disappointing at the game, with the Fev fans celebrating at the front of the stand, but overall considering injuries and the fact they are a well organised strong team I wasn't too disappointed with the bonus point come the end of the game. You only need to look at the teams progress since the night of doom and gloom at Fev away.

No excuses for the cup debacle, but that can't be changed now. Enjoying watching Fax and got a mate who's new to RL and has started coming regularly.

Think the team and coach are working hard on trying to do the basics right as well as playing the exciting stuff that we all enjoy. It would be a shame if they are under so much pressure that making a mistake ruins confidence.

Confidence has slowly built and I'm happy progress has been made despite being vocally critical of Calland back at the Fev away game. Lets get behind the team and manager I think we're in for an exciting end to the season.

i wouldnt say were doing all the basics right.

Defending we can't do for toffee at the moment.
knocking on, Staying on side, Lying on at the play the ball, all problems we have.

these are things we really have to improve as well, we might out score most teams, in the play offs there usually tight games were we cant score as many points but the defnece isnt good enough to keep the opposition out.

we have made strides this season, the kicking game is a lot better,

Gleeson is injured i think dont know for how long yet. we need him back for his control.

to be a force in the play offs we need to. Improve the defence, the forwards need to stand up and make the hard yards. we just have to keep hold of the ball and only play our fancy stuff in the opposion half.

if the defense doenst improve though i can see us being dissapointed at the business end of the season again .

not being a doom and gloom merchant, just IMO

I also think we have improved in a lot of area's. I dont get too worried about the odd knock on and laying on at the play of the ball, as this happens with all teams.

However.

Defence is the one area that I really really worry about. The old addage "Defence wins games" comes to mind and whilst we have this leaky defence we will not dominate in any league.

But what about that old addage "dont kick the dog up the bum whilst you have your fingers in its mouth"



The trouble with only scoring more than you concede is that we are doing that in some games but then letting the opposition get the dreaded bonus point, hence our defence could have made the league even better for us.

Without the dreaded bonus point in existence the top six would be

Fev 24 points
Fax 20 points
Leigh 18 ponts
Barra 16 points
Seff 12 points
Wid 10 points

Now that looks better.

were not going to be able to score a bundle of points in a play off game htough, even if we do its not going to happen all the way through the play offs.

we will have to score at least 24 points to win with our defence

For me our biggest problems are the amount of yards teams are making against us in the tackle, that was especially evident in the Fev game where we would have 2 men in the tackle but the Fev player would still make 5-10 metres while being held, and then the amount of offloads that the opposition are getting out even when we have 3 in the tackle, simple logic suggest that one goes chest high to clamp the ball and the other takes the legs and voila, both problems solved. One thing Feb did exceptionally well on Thursday was holding our players in the tackle without completing it until their defensive line had got back to its positions, we should copy this which would help with our lying on problems. Then we need a few players to learn Shads move so its not just him who pops up at the end of it and then we aren't telegraphing it so much. So that's this weeks training schedule sorted, I look forward to massive improvement.

I look forward to seeing all these improvements when we play Dewsbury on Sunday 27th, but I won't hold my breath
