| Don't anyone try & tell me the bonus point is a load of rubbish, Sheffield are earning theirs this season and good luck to them they're a workmanlike team/club. It's certainly one of the things that make this a great division to be part of.

The bonus point is a load of rubbish. There I said it, if it was any good Superleague would be using it now.
the table without a bonus point would read.
HALIFAX 16 Points +197
Barrow 16 Points +162
Featherstone 14 Points
Widnes 12 Points
Toulouse 10 Points - 2
Whitehaven 10 Points - 20
Leigh 10 Points - 53
Sheffield 6 Points
Gateshead 4 Points -123
Batlehy 4 Points -182
Doncaster 2 Points
Therefore the bonus point is crap

2 points.
1. Halifax would still be top of the league with a game in hand
2. Superleague Europe, National Rugby League in Australia, the International Rugby League and BARLA choose not to use it, sort of languishing the Championships, only, having to put up with it.
It should either be abolished or adopted...
My suggestion is GET RID OF IT.
But that is my opinion, you are entitled to yours....

Regardless of who is top of the league, my point referred to Sheffield earning theirs by not giving in when games could have passed them by. I know they were in the lead tonight, but if teams are rewarded by digging in there, then I'm all for it. Too many games become one-sided when a side loses faith.

| With no promotion or relegation in SL I don't think a bonus point would matter as much. Bradford probably wouldn't be as far down (can anybody be bothered to work out what the SL table would look like?), but for me the BP is too heavily in favour of the losing side, but yes Sheffield have earnt them.

I'm old fashioned i'm afraid. A team should only earn any points for winning. What more incentive is there in sport to get within as many points of your winning opponents than pride? It's all namby pamby gimicks from the RFL i'm afraid.

| i think there should be a bonus point reward for coming up close losers, but in my opinion 12 points is way too gererous. its hardy a massive achivement to lose by 12 is it

| Sport is about win, lose or draw. Not win, lose, lose but get a point anyway because you weren't too bad, and draw.
We'll be going towards Yawnion soon where you get bonus points for tries and how many points you score.

And you're right. I've said on the dedicated thread on this subject that if we [imust[/i have the BP system it needs to be a tighter losing margin, and give the BP to the winning team for handing out a tonking. That way it doesn't jut favour losing.

Agreed, wonder what the Aussies think of it? They play to win whatever the sport, thats one of the reason they are so good at virtually everything they turn their hand to.

| Don't see what the issue is.
It makes tems try to get points when getting walloped !
Also, the winning team still gets 2 points more (at least) than the losing team so who cares?
In divisions below SL, I think it is a positive, and has made most games closer in this division than ever before!

| I'm just waiting for the day when a team loses 12 - 0.
How ridiculous will it look when the loser gets a bonus point for not scoring a single point?

| The Bonus Point is not something I agree with. However if the RFL are going to have it then each Pro League should have it and then everybody would maybe accept and understand it better-but the RFL just want to create confusion and friction between us all so they have different rules for different teams depending where you are or which league you are in.

I'm in favour as it adds something to the competition, but if it was to go, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
Widnes losing to Batley.....that's caused me a sleepless night or two
