I was surprised to read in the courier that we only have 1 player contracted for next season (Said Tamghart).

It did go on to say that the club would be working hard to secure contracts, as from next Monday all other clubs can start talking to "out of contract" players.

We definately need the core of the team securing for the next couple of years.

i think they will be some at advances stages and possibly some will sign this week

I think Mr Clay sounds quiet confident and I was suprised that it is rumoured that Ben Black was on the verge of signing a new contract hope its true.

When does bens contract run out? I know it was a 2 year but from when?

It MUST run out at the end of the season, as it is reported that only Said Tamghart is contracted for next year.

I think that all NL/Championship player contracts have a SL "Get Out" clause in them.

AFAIK it's because the RFL say it's a restriction of their ability to paly at a higher level.

and save SL clubs having to pay to get players from small clubs.

Lets hope most of the squad with offers for next season on the table sign on the dotted line before the deadline.

There's players we'd miss, but they wouldn't be irreplacable. Fax have shown in the past they won't be held to ransom by players and they're agents so if that starts happening wouldn't surprise me if someone did leave.

I'd imagine the plans for next seasons squad are well underway.

I do think we need to get them all signed up, maybe one exception Wrenchy he is not big enough, I like the guy a lot but we still need another big strong prop in this league you need 4 plus one that can come in to cover for injuries and rotation etc... but also cover second row.

There's definitely something to be said about keeping a team together.

It is starting to pay dividends for us - much that I hate to say it but it was why Whitehaven did so well for those 3 or 4 years.
