| Clearly the re-introduction of P&R is good news for all of us who believe this is the way forward. But there is still a lot of "devil in the detail" to understand before I will give the new proposals a positive or negative view. Amongst which are allocations of cash, second team structure, TV rights, minimum standards, financial stability etc.
Notwithstanding this I love the prospect that three years after it all starts we could see a Grand final between Hemel Stags and Gloucester. It will not happen, but at last everyone can dream. That is what sport should be about.

Baffled how you can see this as "keeping a split between Fev and Fax fans". It's got absolutely nothing to do with it. Surprised at you having the chip on the shoulder.
Yeah - I read the thread you quoted. Posts by a lot of people starting to think about it.'"
There are a significant number posts from Fev fans (Westwood, Taylor, Andy, etc. etc.) that are negative on there as well - again I don't see how this is celebrating. If you mean there is a lot of general happiness across all clubs in the championship that P&R is returning then I could see that (but not just Fev fans).
As for chip on shoulder, why is it that you feel the necessity to have a “pop” at Fev fans by saying "The penny's still not dropped at Fev. They're still celebrating", when there are as many members of other clubs that are bestowing the virtues of P&R in particular and to a lesser extent 2x12 into 3x8 within that same thread and other treads. By posting like this in a way that appears to be an anti-Fev on a Fax forum it would appear that you wish to ride on what you believe is anti-Fev sentiment within this forum (hence my question about “keeping a split between Fev and Fax fans”).
I suspect you know if you were to post “The penny's still not dropped in Fax. You’re still celebrating" (and there are a number of happy Fax fans on that same thread which you highlight that are happy that P&R is returning) you would get slated on here about demeaning Fax fans and rightly so. Just makes it look like you’re jealous of Fev (and yes I know you have no need to be).
In truth I know you have the Rugby League in your heart and would like to see the whole prosper (and Sheffield in particular), but maybe you should think about some of your posts before pressing the enter key.

It would be lunacy to put all their efforts into on the field performance only to realise or be told after the event that their ground wasn't big enough or they didn't have enough toilets or seats etc.
Also the RFL need to be realistic in what is achievable for the clubs as the game stands at the moment when they decide upon the criteria.'"
Money share-out, minimum standards - still to be decided yet. That's the madness of it.

To honest though it was only last Friday when it got voted through on a 7 to 6 for and against vote with one abstention, as you know up untill then everything was on hold, it was hardly possible or even practicle to plan for or look at anything else until the vote had taken place.
The powers that be and all the clubs know that the things you have mentioned and a good few more will need to be considered and it the coming months they will be decided upon.
Not a week has gone by yet so give it time.
The fact is that there is no perfect solution.
Happier, yes, more hopefull yes but I wouldn't call it celibrating.

Doesn't mean your finances aren't going to be subject to a review by the likes of KPMG if you want to be promoted.
These things are yet to be decided. wait and see.

And are the finances of current SL being reviewed? There will be an outcry if such a measure is introduced given the abject failure of previous reviews. Without bringing more calamity to the proceedings you can't opinionate on Championship clubs finances when some current members of SL are financially retarded.

Eh dear.
I'm just saying the minimum standards haven't been set yet so you can't know whether you'll need a financial review by KPMG or somebody like them. It's still not just what happens on the field.
Try not to take it personally.

| I take your point but what I'm saying is that such measures MUST be consistent. Forgive my being personal but given the complete sham of a system that we've just left behind (which was apparently ratified by KPMG) you can't expect me to share your apparent faith in the RFL's "safeguarding" measures.

| I'd agree with you that it appears that it's not been done well.
There is, however, a balance between monitoring the clubs and the cost of doing so.

As far as I know, all Championship clubs have been told the new funding format at their recent meeting with the RFL.
I was speaking with one of the BOD at Leigh who explained the 2 teams that finish in the top 2 places in the 2014 season are to get £1.2 million funding to make it easier to compete with the bottom 4 SL teams.
The teams that finish 3 & 4 both get somewhere in the region of half that amount.
This was stated as on of the reasons for our heavy recruitment this year, although he did say we still have room on our cap for this year with the retirement of Simon Finnegan and the failure to get a Visa for Tuki Jackson.
Apparently we are still in the market for players who come available and are aiming for a first place finish, having said all that the bit I was happiest to hear was regardless of where we finish we are not in a boom or bust scenario and are forecasting a profit off 1700 attendance figures.

Not sure it is more difficult that what we have had the last 6 years, in that at worst the new system will give us 1 SL team versus 1 Championship team (4v5) for the final SL place the following year (and it is possible to be in the top 3 and qualify without the playoff game). I don't see that being harder than qualifying for SL via the licensing route (when it appears as an outsider teh SL clubs want to keep a closed shop). To get to the point of being the championship club that gets to that one game playoff will be hard and with the 2 ex-SL teams joining the championship it will be harder still for the current teams in our league, however Sheffield have made and won the equivalent GF game in the last 2 years so why not again in 2015? And come the start of the 2015 season well all start on zero points with everything to play for.
Do I like the 2x12 into 3x8, you know I don't. It is too hard to manage for a whole raft of reasons, and therefore I personally would have preferred 2x12 with a 1 up 1 down. However if this had been adopted I think it would have still been as hard to get into SL as the new 2x12 -> 3x8 for the current championship teams, given this would still mean getting past the relegated SL teams, and as we have seen in the past (pre licensing) this is hard to achieve.
At least the new system will allow a route via P&R that is decided on the pitch (assuming minimum criteria is meet), which the previous licensing system didn't.
Key to all of this is how the funding is managed, it the current discrepancy of virtually 10 to 1 (SL to Championship) is kept it is always going to be virtually impossible to break into SL. And it appears from the outside that this is the hardest question for the SL clubs to agree on.

The key isnt the funding FG, the key is how each club reacts to it, if they ' rely ' on it and spend it on paying their players more, they will just be treading water, if they focus on increasing revenue ( primarily fans ) then eventually they will be matching the SL bottom 4 and the 2 deposed clubs, then when the opportunity arrises, as it will, then that club will be in a position to take advantage of it
And it is Fev who I believe are currently leading in that
