| Fickleness would seem to imply a frequent changing of the mind at the slightest little thing and is used in a derogatory manner in this instance. Personally I haven’t changed my mind as I never saw walmsley play last season I can only comment on what I have seen both live and on the tv replay , walmsley I have no doubt improve as I have already stated . The term ‘ turncoat ‘ comes under the category of derogatory passive aggressive behaviour which often stains our online community usually because there is no accountability, I prefer to stick to facts rather than creating unnecessary drama .

| @Listenup 94,
turncoat (n.)
1550s, from turn (v.) + coat (n.). The expression to turn one's coat "change principles or party" is recorded from 1570s.
You seem quick to jump on the defensive for someone who states positivity for the guy. I also take note you call the term passive aggressive, and derogatory, I fail to see where I have been the latter, I am only commenting on posters previous comments close season to now. If you think that is derogatory that is your view and could say that a lot of remarks made on this forum fall into the same category.
I do however stand by my post, and thank you for your rebuttle.

The use of the word turn coat is inappropriate and I’m fully aware of its meaning, voicing opinions on players or games in general doesn’t imply disloyalty but objective opinion.

| So what do you call the individuals who lauded his signing and are now caring doubt on his suitability for the job ?
I fail to see where their comments were /are objective but contradictory .
Thank you for your viewpoint even though it disagrees with mine.

As far as I’m aware I’m the only one to have an opinion on walmsley specifically, I think one of the other members hasn’t picked him in his side but hasn’t stated why ( nor does he have to ) and I can only speak for myself , as fans we are allowed to have opinions either pro or against as long as it doesn’t resort to slander . As regards as his initial signing I reported it in a positive light based on the positive opinions of external sources , then saying he has to calm down and put on half a stone is constructive criticism as opposed to being fickle or a turncoat.

Disappointed by this but it is Simon call he does not think he is ready to play yet and needs more time to develop that is why he must of brought joe in. I would of preferred alex walker to have been giving a chance but it is Simon call.

| In other news Towns game were called off today. I know its going to kick up some arguments because what is not playable for them is likely still going to be playable for us.

I am one of the posters who was and still is happy with Lachlan's signing but i would leave him out of the side for sunday. And that is based on the 2 preseason games and the game against batley. I just think that zak as done that bit better especially bringing the ball out of yardage that is not Lachlan's strengths he is a finisher and as greg said we have not been getting quality ball to our wingers as yet. We blew 3 tries on sunday by Arundel twice not passing to salty when he was wide open close to the line and barber blew one not passing to Arundel. Hopefully given time and allowing for the side to gel Lachlan will score plenty of tries this season. Finally i would say that a far few need better games on sunday or risk being dropped expectations are high and we could do with a good start to the season.

| @Terry Silver, you make very good reasons for your choice to leave LW out of the 17, rather than taking the negative you validate your reasons with clarity. Things to be worked on in training and with a full squad, as I remarked in an earlier post sometimes it takes time to gel.

It's a bit late for a good start isn't it? I do however agree that the team as a whole need to step up after last week's awful 2nd half. It is still early days though and I predict a comfortable win today to kick start our season. Up The Fax!

| Impossible to be too critical when you consider the appalling conditions - especially in the first half. Defence good throughout, and in the last quarter they scored some good tries especially the tip on from Aston. Team selection was bit surprising but sensible considering both form and the very heavy pitch. Although hard to read too much into today I feel Aston and Keyes looks our strongest half back combination , Barber a constant threat at centre, although for second week running bit underwhelmed by Arundel. Gwaze ran and defended very strongly; a lousy day to play fullback but thought Martin was very solid.

| I was surprise the score at the end of the game considering the first half. I thought we looked slow and didn’t make any ground. I think our last 4 or 5 sets before half time we never made it to halfway.
However we ground down London who never really worried our defensive line. Once they began to tire we were making decent half breaks and ultimately got 4 second half tries. There several times Barber should have passed with May have resulted in another double of tries but he seemed to cut inside and try it himself. Let’s see what Widnes bring.

| Both teams were poor in the 1st half , low completion rates from both sides but the weather probably accounted for most of that . About 60 mins in London started to tire after being repeatedly battered by some outstanding forward play , Kavanagh, gwaze ,calcott , Fairbank putting in some big stints supplemented by some good territorial kicks grinding London to the ground. Aston and Keyes linked up well and barber played well . It was quite interesting to see jouffret, walmsey , worthington, woodburn hall , gee , Morris sat behind us , overheard worthington has broke a bone in his foot , woodburn hall out for another 4 weeks , walmsey, jouffret Morris all apparently singled out from last week’s performance unless injured as well .
Widnes is a massive game next week and fax will have to go up a level for that one .

| Overall a solid performance with some improved individual performances . Aston for me is the better long term investment . Never been a fan or Arundel who always had the potential but can grix improve him . More of a team effort to grid down london on a miserable day weather wise .

| Well with the atrocious weather conditions today's game was never going to top the entertainment charts for free flowing rugby.
What winter rugby does ask is can we dig in, grind out the result and eventually get on top of the opposition and in those areas it was up there with the best of our efforts.
The pack had some good performances in there, the backs were steady with some nice moves from the halves when they finally got the field position and the goal line defense held up well.

| Not sure why LW was singled out for the defeat at batley as were others who performed far worse. Joe did nothing wrong but not sure if would prefer him or joufret at number 1. Bit off that main new signings did not play

I think with team selection how it has been, Grix is making the statement that he sees neither Joufrett or Walmsley as a full back. Walmsley now has a right battle to get his place back because McComb is consistantly good and our wingers will look good come the dry grounds playing outside two class centres.
As for the game that was just what we needed after last week and it sets us up nicely for next week and we have to pray for some decent weather. It will be a tough game but its another that we should be winning at home.

| Who’d be a coach , some brave decisions there leaving out walmsey and jouffret, I can see the logic in leaving walmsey out as saltonstall McComb makes yards driving it out from our half and having arundal and barber in the centres gives us size and they’re both defensively sound , London got no change attacking our back line , Aston also looks defensively sound certainly better than Harris in that department.
The jouffret one is the one I struggle with tbh , Martin had a solid game yesterday and made zero errors and looks a safe pair of hands but I think jouffret adds a bit more coming into the line plus can play multiple positions if necessary. The Mrs ‘ being more of a people watcher than me (nosey cow ) commented after the game that jouffret had a face like a slapped and didn’t celebrate when we scored as the others did , you can take it with a pinch of salt but I’d hate to have the repeat of the springer debacle like last year , it’s a real test of grixs’ man management this year , interesting few weeks ahead .

Larger squad this season = bigger headache for coach.
I thought he got the team just about right. In the absence of Worthington need Barber at centre. On the heavy grounds Calcott over Morris. UPF.

| Yes the conditions were poor yesterday but my word that was hard work watching that in the first half. I actually thought london played the conditions better for about 50 minutes and then you could see them tiring and we finally got into gear and came home with a wet sail. For me the best players were gwaze, larroyer, garside and callcott played well too. I hope the injury to wood is not a bad one we are picking up a far few at the moment and could do without any more. As for next week we will have to play better then that to win widnes will fancy there chances yes they have beaten sides you would expect them to but they gave us a tough game at our place last season and were unlucky to lose. And then they beat us comfortably at there place so i would expect a tough game. Hopefully the weather can dry up a bit for the game too.

I don't think LW or Jouffret were singled out as you say, more a case of Grix selecting a team for the conditions. As for the game, a dreadful 1st half was followed by a very well managed 2nd half. Two points, job done and Widnes next. Up The Fax! Sportsman, shuddersfield, Ilkley Pale 4.2% Mmm!

For the first time in years we've got 3 quality halfbacks so there's always going to be 1 disgruntled one. I thought Aston had an excellent game yesterday and complements Keyes really well. While I know there's a desire to find a place for a player as good as Jouffret, Martin is really solid at the back and may well grow into the attacking side as he gets more confidence. Jouffret may get a chance as back up hooker next week if Wood is injured - pleased to see Brandon Moore back to more like his old self in his second spell.
