| Quote 2 for a draw ?
Doesn't make sense mate. Just work it out as 2pts for a win and 1 for a draw!! Laughing Laughing Some teams are in far the wrong place!!
Anyway, bonus points should reward attacking play, so 3 points for a win and a bonus point for scoring 4 tries or more. This gives teams who are 50 down an incentive to get over the whitewash!!'"
i have just got the table of Championship website and removed all of the bps it says

Jeez - with arithmetic like that, Dons could've won it.
Whitehaven won 12, 33 points.
Sheffield won 11, 31 points.

| One Sport, one set of rule. Either everyone get 3 for a win 2 for a draw and bonus points or everyong gets 2 for a win and 1 for a draw. How much longer are the RFL going to make this sport a laughing stock by having seperate rules for different teams (this include celtic as well).

I agree that the bonus point should be looked at, but without it, the chances are we'd still be top anyway.
The Don Valley is a postage stamp of a pitch which doesn't suit our open play, it was heaving down, blowing a gale and we only played on Monday night. Sheffield's only weapon was big blokes barging over from 5 yards. Hard to defend against, but not very inspiring either.

Yer agree but without sounding 'sour' it is all down to your Chairman's cash at the end of the day, good luck to you but it proves money talks.

How muchmoney do you think Des put's in ??? Not nearly as much as people think.
We've averaged 2,300 at home this season. At an average of £10 a head that's £23,000 x 12 games = £276,000. Add to that the shared gates (full house v Wigan, QF NR Cup, Semi NR Cup, Final NR Cup, playoffs to come) and gate receipts must top £400,000. Add to that all the bar and refreshment takings, merchandise, sponsorship and prize money and you're looking at £500,000+.
Our Goldrush Lottery brings in approx £300,000 a year (and rising). That makes it £800,000+.
Des does put money in, which just tops-up what he club earns in its' own right. The last time the business results were published, Des put in about £100,000. A lot of money, but a lot less than many chairman in the Championship (and Championship 1 for that matter).
Hardly Roman Abramovic !
Oh and I forgot to mention Craven Park. We own it (and of course we know its hardly Wembley, but WE OWN IT). I think the land was valued at approx £5M.
Des is the driving force, but the club is built on VERY firm foundations.
We are a well run club

| A tenner a head on average is very optimistic, imho. Kids, season tickets, VAT will all bring that down. And you may be double counting the sponsors' guests.
And obviously, that's only one side of the coin. We never know exactly what's being paid out in wages.

Whitehaven played 19 poins 24
Widnes played 20 points 22
Sheffield played 20 points 22
Thats the real league. As Barrow have a goal difference of 271 and ours is 222, we would have had to beat Toulouse by 50 points to claim top spot.
That means that it would still have been achievable. And look where Sheffield are now.

Yes, according to the clubs' recent marketing campaign and press releases. There is a big push on to get it up to the £500K mark.
Quote ="Fax4Life"Your gates are all pay???????'"
Of course not, but what has that got to do with it? Adults (the vast majority) - £13/£14, Seniors - £9, Children - £5. The season tickets worked out at £11 a match. I think £10 average is a reasonable assumption.
Quote ="Fax4Life"He puts in £100K?????'"
As I said in my original post, that was the only figure available from the clubs most recent P&L accounts.
Des may well put more in, but my original post was meant to show that the club is financially sound without his cash. Far sounder than most (if not all) clubs in the Championship. Barrow is a club owned by Debenture Holders which are similar to shares, who can attend the AGM and have a say on goings-on at the club.
If we DID 'buy' the league, the vast majority of the money used was generated by Barrow RL. That's the whole point of a professional club isn't it ??
But, never mind the facts. The fantasy is far more appealing isn't it

| Barrow and Des have just tried buying anybody and have got lucky as Fax fecked it up. But Barrow are light years of Sl because the ground is a hellhole-that requires likely around 10-15 Million to get it up so SL Standard. They are so far off Widnes in terms of Backroom setup and academy set up is laughable. And Barrow have a complete Loon as a chairman who when you compare him to Steve O´Conner is a joke on how he runs his club and how he does things. The other problem for Barrow is that the town has no other big towns next to it say like Widnes has with Liverpool and the Wirral. What makes me laugh is the arrogance of the Barrow fans who think Barrow should be in SL and ignore how far off Barrow really are. Even Fax with no money man behind them are better run and have a Stadium that will be fit for SL by the end of the year let alone 2012. I really hope Barrow fail to make the GF due to the arrogance and bigheadedness of the Fans and the Club. I respect Widnes for example alot more-quietly do the business and properly building for SL. A couple of fans are full of crap but generally are OK and respectful of others

so if they get the GF tick in the box this season, i think he will reduce the money he is putting and try to bully his way into SL 2012
if they dont and it seems likley there is little chance of SL in 2012 then he may just take his ball home
regardless of what SCR and his other sickafants says ,his attitude (which is well known in cumbrian) is his main stumbling block the rfl will not want some neike him incharge of SL

Look.
I have no issue with Barrow topping the league, as i have said in other posts we threw that away ourselves and can blame no other team for that.
BUT
The bonus point is a waste of time, encourages negative play and rewards failure.
Its had its time. Its time to get rid of it.

| The bonus point is negative because it offers nothing for a team to be more ruthless in defence or attack when leading by a big margin.
There is so much you could do to make it better if they were going to keep it. Such as points for so many tries or if they keep the losing by a certain margin, why not winning by a certain margin too. This also makes for great rugby.
However it would be better if they went to 3 for a win and 1 for a draw and if you lose, tough! That or 2 for a win and 1 for a draw. Getting something for taking part is for kids growing up so that they are sporting. It's not for professional sports! IF you lose, you should get nothing.

The 300K over 3 years = £100K a year, so that backs up what I said. Like I said, it's hardly Billionaire's money is it.
I wondered how long it would be before one of our green-eyed friends from up the coast would comment.
Rooney has a % of his salary paid by Wakey (and he's only played 7 games for us)
Bell was on a week ot week contract and left in April
The 4 Oldham players are only on 2/3rds of what they were on at Oldham and will probably only play 7-8 games max for the club.
Keep on deluding yourselves. This year is only the start.
I find it amusing that a Fax fan commented on Barrow's stadium when they 'borrow' a stadium every 2 weeks.
Let's face it, Fax like Fev have no chance of getting into SL unless the RFL kick a couple of Yorkshire teams out of the SL. I just can't see that happening.

Yeah of course 4 players are going to go to Barrow on a wage 33% less than what they was getting. Why? brown envelope behind the scenes?

Yeah like most clubs have a chairman who will give over 100,000 a year for 3 years. Rugby is not soccer and why its very rare to find somebody willing to throw that amount of money away (Which it is unless its for Tax purposes)
Quote I find it amusing that a Fax fan commented on Barrow's stadium when they 'borrow' a stadium every 2 weeks.'"
??? Many teams in SL like Wigan, Hull FC, Huddersfield, Quins, Celtic do this and usually save money long term doing it. If it was so cheap to do why do so many clubs share grounds or pay the local council to use it? CP maybe Barrows ground but it requires something around 10 million to get it to SL Standards. I doubt Des the Donkey will pay that much. And IF Des left Barrow will go backwards quick as he has built everything on sand. No upgrade of stadium or anything the club can earn much money from
