Much better performance! Solid in the first half - did what we had to do against the slope. Pulverised them in the second half down the hill. There were VERY FEW mistakes made tonight and Branighan really does steady the ship.

Stood on the bottom end terracing - you get close to the play. Boy it's really fast when you get close to the action. Quick passing and quick stepping - it's amazing just how fast the game is - even at this level.

Can't understand people parking their car in the ground though - BMW lost it's windscreen tonight from a kick into touch.

We lacked 'go forward' in the pack 1st half and the play of the ball was far too slow (ref should have done more).

Once we speeded up the ruck we blew them away. Particularly when big Frank and Said made their presence felt.

Worrincy was redundant in the 2nd half as we dominated so much down the middle.

Fax confidence should be sky high now, perfect preparation for a long cup run

Yer sounds right as not many there tonight plenty from Halifax so my guess is about 400 Fax fans and very sad to see only 233 from Swinton.
I hope Swinton can get a ground of their own actually in Swinton and not at a RU ground at the back of a housing estate in Whitefield.

It was a struggle first half and we struggled to get past the 'gain line' as they say. Lucky we got Brannigan back as he got us 2 tries out of nothing really. Was disappointed at half time but knew we had another gear if we needed it they didn't.
Second half we stepped it up with quicker play the balls and Penky did a lot of damage with his darting runs. The confidence shot up and some of our tries were class, we did get a bit of luck with a couple as well.
Blacky seems to be gaining confidence, good we need him.

Having been on Sedgley with well over 1,000 in attendance, I think 600 seems a little on the low side, personally. Good following from 'Fax, will be happy to see you bring as many as that to the LSV.

That crowd is very dissapointing. I blame myself entirely for my lack of attendance. I've let everyone down.

Credit to Swinton, thought they did all the basics right and kept us under control in the first half despite our lack of ideas. Second half was great, back to how we used to be scoring for fun, but in the first half if Branighan and Beswick weren't there we'd have been scuppered. But if we carry on like we did in that second half we should be ok... SHOULD.

So is it Holroyd who's going to have to ring auto-glass?

A mate who went said it was an awful game to watch especially first half. He felt Swinton gave everything in the first 40 but then were tired and lost confidence in the 2nd half. He though if Fax were playing one of the big sides we would have benn 20 points down at half time. Still not too convinced we have made the changes to challenge for honours this year. And I am still of the opinion Calland has taken the club as far as he can. We will see later in the year if he has changed things when we face Barrow, Fev, Widnes etc

We played smart rugby last night. Played up the hell of a slope inthe 1st half & did well to keep them down to 4pts. Cant remember them really having much chance of scoring.

2nd half we were back to something like we have been in the past. People pushing up, supporting, taking the chance when it was on. A big step in the right direction imo.

The Swinton No.23, Foxen, said it was his car after eventually coming over to have a look after the Fax fans kept shouting at them about it.

The first half was tough - but they didnt really look like scoring. He must have been watching a different game to me in the 2nd half. Some of the tries we scored were fantastic. As people have said, we had players pushing up with the ball carrier which we have been missing this year. More importantly, we did this off the platform set by the forwards. So we didnt start pushing passes in the wrong areas. Very proffesional job done against a team who have some very good players.

Well, Jesus wept.

It was not a great perforance at Widnes even though we won-just. We beat a struggling Championship 1 team, but struggled in the first half last night. I just think the easy games we have at mo are covering over the fact that Calland cant take Fax further and win cups and a Grand Final. Thats my opinion. If you or anybody does not like that then do not read it-simples. Some people think Calland will improve the team and its tactics. I respect that.
