At the minute we dont have a real local derby, our big games are against Widnes and Barrow, but I'm sure a Challenge Cup Draw could change all that...

I've not liked Link Telecom since they came to the club a few years ago, with the offer of doing all sorts of money raising ideas, such as the crowd texting Man of the Match etc and giving a share to the club. I think the club were ready to launch it when they wandered off and put the proposal to Bradford instead.

I have only ever had bad experiences with Telecoms companies, with the exception of Utility Warehouse.

They usually employ sales people who would be selling Photocopiers , Timeshare or working in Estate Agents if they weren't selling dodgy phone contracts.

After hearing Link Telecom boss Gary Fawcett talk at a directors Q&A session at Cougar Park last night I got the impression he feels that the reason Link Telecom went under was because of an arbitrary contractual change by a mobile network left Link Telecom millions out of pocket and that a bank pulled over a million pounds of finance upon hearing the news. The company had no option but to enter administration because of this and efforts are being made recover money back from the mobile network.

He also felt that some of the reports in the media regarding Link Telecom's troubles were more than a bit wide of the mark.

Maybe that is indeed what happened. Would certainly put the situation in a far better light, if that is a fair and objective accounting of the facts.

But I will admit to having some difficulty reconciling the explanations to the events, based on my own experience, and I'd feel happier with a bit more substance to how the explanations actually stack up. But I see little benefit in continued speculation, since we are where we are. any unresolved or unexplained issues will be dealt with by the appropriate professionals.

But, as I said, I worry for Keighley.

As regards the Cougars, on the whole he said the right things, apart from trying to make Super League in 2014. It was all about improving revenues streams, attracting more fans to games,initially making small improvements to the ground and getting the community involved.

They've got off on the right foot by getting us a cracking new sponsorship deal by all accounts.

Anyway hope Fax aren't too badly hit by this.

They should worry more about their own club. I have it on good authority that there are in a lot of debt and that 5 top players will be out of the door there before the end of the month to help this.

I can understand the club paying players to go to training sessions, why can't they? If you pay them a smaller salary for playing but then extra for getting to the training, then there's less likelyhood of those who might have been on a cushy salary staying at home and disrupting strategies etc, because they couldn't be bothered, or thought they were so good that they were certain of a place in the squad.

I remeber seeing some of them nearly having fit having a go at Holly when we first signed him. They remind me of how Rochdale fans used to be like. Had a lot of time for Batley in the past but over time this has dissapeared. Wonder if they would like it if we decided not to take any fans to the away fixture? See how happy they would be then.

That Danny Maun matchwinner last season cleared up any ill-feeling.

They're just peed off because they know they are just a Bulls Feeder Club and will never be a serious contender for SL.

They cant read either. Not as if we're going bust. The board of a very well run are sorting it out, for which we are grateful. If only they had such a well motivated, forward thinking board

The supporters remember Halifax having bucket collections to save the club and straight after signing Graham Holroyd on a contract.
This time it is different with the sponsor pulling out.Be interesting to see how Matt Calland goes without the same freedom to sign players especially if Halifax get any early season injuries to key players.

We didnt sign Holroyd until part way throught the following season. So... how long in your opinion should the club have waited before signing players? What would have been an acceptable time for you?

Don't bother trying to reason with the rumour-mongers with fact and logic. Believing hearsay and 'what their mate told them and he knows because he has "close connections" with said club/player' gives them something to moan about. And we can all have a good laugh at them.
