| Quote ="TheButcher" [i[uThe ramblings of bronze-age nomadic sheep-herders who didn't know where the sun went at nigh[/u[/i . I[i[u love the fact that Christians and Muslims and Hindus laugh at people who practice Scientology like it's somehow more nuttier and ridiculous than their own ideas. They're all ridiculous! The only difference is time[/u[/i.'"
Hahaha you still don't know where the Sun goes at night. Now Scientology lets have a good giggle at this. Bearing in mind Scientology has its own Creation account Where Science Fiction becomes their Science Fact.
Quote [iScientology Review Once upon a time (75 million years ago to be more precise) there was an alien galactic ruler named Xenu. Xenu was in charge of all the planets in this part of the galaxy including our own planet Earth, except in those days it was called Teegeeack.
Xenu the alien ruler Now Xenu had a problem. All of the 76 planets he controlled were overpopulated. Each planet had on average 178 billion people. He wanted to get rid of all the overpopulation so he had a plan.
Xenu took over complete control with the help of renegades to defeat the good people and the Loyal Officers. Then with the help of psychiatrists he called in billions of people for income tax inspections where they were instead given injections of alcohol and glycol mixed to paralyse them. Then they were put into space planes that looked exactly like DC8s (except they had rocket motors instead of propellers).
These DC8 space planes then flew to planet Earth where the paralysed people were stacked around the bases of volcanoes in their hundreds of billions. When they had finished stacking them around then H-bombs were lowered into the volcanoes. Xenu then detonated all the H-bombs at the same time and everyone was killed.
The story doesn't end there though. Since everyone has a soul (called a "thetan" in this story) then you have to trick souls into not coming back again. So while the hundreds of billions of souls were being blown around by the nuclear winds he had special electronic traps that caught all the souls in electronic beams (the electronic beams were sticky like fly-paper).
After he had captured all these souls he had them packed into boxes and taken to a few huge cinemas. There all the souls had to spend days watching special 3D motion pictures that told them what life should be like and many confusing things. In this film they were shown false pictures and told they were God, The Devil and Christ. In the story this process is called "implanting".
When the films ended and the souls left the cinema these souls started to stick together because since they had all seen the same film they thought they were the same people. They clustered in groups of a few thousand. Now because there were only a few living bodies left they stayed as clusters and inhabited these bodies.
As for Xenu, the Loyal Officers finally overthrew him and they locked him away in a mountain on one of the planets. He is kept in by a force-field powered by an eternal battery and Xemu is still alive today.
:That is the end of the story. And so today everyone is full of these clusters of souls called "body thetans". And if we are to be a free soul then we have to remove all these "body thetans" and pay lots of money to do so. And the only reason people believe in God and Christ was because it was in the film their body thetans saw 75 million years ago.
Well so do we. However, this story is the core belief in the religion known as Scientology.* If people knew about this story then most people would never get involved in it. This story is told to you when you reach one of their secret levels called OT III. After that you are supposed to telepathically communicate with these body thetans to make them go away. You have to pay a lot of money to get to this level and do this (or you have to work very hard for the organisation on extremely low pay for many years).
We are telling you this story as a warning. If you become involved with Scientology then we would like you to do so with your eyes open and fully aware of the sort of material it contains.
OT3 in Hubbard's handwriting Most of the Scientologists who work in their Dianetics* centres and so called "Churches" of Scientology do not know this story since they are not allowed to hear it until they reach the secret "upper" levels of Scientology. It may take them many years before they reach this level if they ever do. The ones who do know it are forced to keep it a secret and not tell it to those people who are joining Scientology.'" [/i
[iNo Butcher who looks a complete tool now. One minute you're a Darwinian then next a Scientology Creationist. [/i[url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XenuSeen Here[/url [i What a contradiction. [/i

| Why would anyone try to hide the shape of the Earth? It's not like it's important in any way to any religion as all. Creation myths are just that. Myths. The Maya thought they were fashioned out of mud then wood then Maize. Hindu's think that Vishnu awoke in the coils of a cobra and ordered his servant Brahma who was on a giant lotus flower to help him create earth. No more ridiculous than the Christian or Islamic myths. A problem only arises when people take an unwavering literal interpretation of their Holy books. ISIS for example, are just following their book to the letter. Christians cherry-pick and swerve around the bits they don't want in favour of the bits that sit well with them.
Are you one of them Stan? Who takes the literal word of your book? Do you think the earth is young? Are you one of those Christians who skims the Old Testament in favour of the new?
I don't have a problem with your religious beliefs. You can believe what you want. As long as it doesn't impact my Family and try to enforce itself into the decisions of society I couldn't care less. Religion is a slowly dying beast and old ideas that linger into the modern world will eventually be remembered as mythology where it belongs.
As for Scientology, if you read carefully, it was an example that I said was already ridiculous and as ridiculous as all religions, but reading comprehension seems to be something you are selective about. What a tool you are Stan.

I don't need to be a religious scholar to know that the earth and all life on it wasn't created by an invisible man in the sky; it astounds me that seemingly intelligent people continue to peddle this claptrap. Your version of it is certainly left of centre, but it's no less ridiculous - we moved on from this stuff centuries ago and the increasingly desperate attempts by the various cults to keep religion relevant would be amusing, if they weren't so dangerous.
Religion is about exercising control over the masses - the sooner it dies out, the better for everyone.

| The funny thing with faith, Stan, is that it means you don't know either. You have a certainty that is based on nothing more than a cultural wish. You know as much as everyone else about an afterlife. Nothing. As for a personal relationship with god, what you really mean is you have a personal relationship with your own mind. If you could prove god existed you'd be world famous. Celebrated. Historic. The thing is, nobody can. I'd change my mind in a heartbeat if someone could provide proof. They can't.
Of all the nonsense and supposed 'proof' of crazy conspiracies you simply can't provide one tiny bit of proof for your core belief. You roll with it without knowing.
What you believe in tends to be an accident of geography. If you were born in Saudi you'd be muslim, if you were born in India you'd be a hindu. They all think they're right as well.

| I don't have a god - and yes, no afterlife is exactly what I'm banking on; for that reason, I try to make best use of the time I have available, safe in the knowledge that dead is dead. You might believe otherwise, but that belief is based on blind faith in a text that can't in any way shape or form be verified. If anyone here is a sheep who can't see the real truth behind the lies, it's you - religion is an invention used to exercise power and control over populations, and it appears you've fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

This is typical of lazy atheists. Rub your magic lamp, abracadabra, snap your fingers and `God' should appear. Have you dedicated years of your life to a sincere search for God? No. Well you have zero argument. GOD is a fairly large and important subject which you seem to have dismissed out of hand.
How many years did you go to school to get the rudiments of an indoctrinated education? 10 years? What if you dedicated 10 years to reaching Higher/God Spiritual Consciousness. Now if you deny spirit you ain't playing with a full deck.. Spirit proves God. Do you sincerely want to know if there is a God. Do You think you can find GOD in a book in the written word or in an argument The search for God is far beyond test tubes and books. I cannot give you my experiences of Higher Consciousness. You have to do the WORK to find out for yourself. Its Life changing.

Bren2K Stan will accuse you of being in some Heliocentric religion - he always does - pretending not to know what a religion is. He has this thing about "heliocentric" - as if it was some gamechanger. Of course, the Sun is at the centre of the Solar System but as the Solar System is a totally insignificant tiny backwater, other than for purely local reference, the Sun is at the centre of nothing, it isn't even anywhere near the centre of our own galaxy, so any reference to "heliocentric" is kind of missing the point.
However, mankind's ingenuity and technical achievements even means that we have an actual image of the actual solar system, taken from deep space in 1990 by the Voyager spacecraft. (Voyager 1 is around 20,000 million km from the Sun and the round trip light time to and from Earth is over 37 hours. More info, and live odometers, here: voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/where/
At the moment, Voyager 1 is travelling away from the Sun at approx. 17km per second, but is getting closer to Earth, which is "catching up" with the spacecraft at a net (approx) 3km per second. How can this be? Well, because Earth orbits the Sun, the spacecraft's relative speed changes as when the Earth is in the half of its orbit "away from" Voyager, the separation speed increases, and when the other is in the other half of its orbit, the speed of the Earth in orbit considerably exceeds the speed of Voyager away from teh Sun, and so for a time, Earth appears to be "catching up". And is, in the sense that the gap between Earth and Voyager reduces. This is of course pretty conclusive evidence of the Earth actually being in orbit around the Sun, even though that was hardly the point of the Voyager missions.
These images were never planned to be taken, and the craft were only programmed to take the images principally after a campaign by the late Carl Sagan. The panoramic view of the inner planets is comprised of a mosaic of individual frames, and when you contemplate what it is, is breathtaking, food for thought - and of course a proof of the Sun being exactly eher it is supposed to be, at the solar system's centre (see accompanying diagram to put the mosaic into context)
Naturally, there are those who don't believe in the existence of such spacecraft, etc., and I already know Stanley will pretend to be richly amused by what he will undoubtedly call this "fake CGI", but for the rest of us, just sit back and wonder.
Quote The Voyagers have enough electrical power and thruster fuel to operate at least until 2020. By that time, Voyager 1 will be 13.8 billion miles (22.1 billion KM) from the Sun and Voyager 2 will be 11.4 billion miles (18.4 billion KM) away. Eventually, the Voyagers will pass other stars. In about 40,000 years, Voyager 1 will drift within 1.6 light-years (9.3 trillion miles) of AC+79 3888, a star in the constellation of Camelopardalis which is heading toward the constellation Ophiuchus. In about 40,000 years, Voyager 2 will pass 1.7 light-years (9.7 trillion miles) from the star Ross 248 and in about 296,000 years, it will pass 4.3 light-years (25 trillion miles) from Sirius, the brightest star in the sky .'"

| So no proof of God then?
You can't even admit the one truth that everyone knows for sure. We don't know. The reason everyone knows is because there isn't any proof of a god or gods. If there was proof there would be one religion, followed by all. You can believe that you have some personal connection to an imaginary being but you can provide no proof. Your higher brain functions and the chemistry contained within might make you feel you really know. But you don't. People have dedicated thousands of years to try and prove their gods exist but not a single one has managed it. Amazing isn't it? What are the odds of the tens of thousands of religions over thousands of years not being able to provide one tiny scrap of evidence?
I can see that things work just fine without any external influence, so it would be somewhat stupid of me to dedicate my life chasing something that isn't there. There are no spirits or souls, because there simply isn't any evidence, and plenty of more qualified people than us have looked and found nothing. It's very easy to see why your huge confirmation bias on the ridiculous subjects you claim to know the truth in, exists. Your core belief is based on nothing but wishful thinking, so it can't be that difficult to apply the same misguided logic with everything you look at. Your mindset is fractured.
Are you not going to prove God to the world then? You have an answer for everything else. Admittedly they are usually laughable nonsense, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one.
I eagerly await, with the rest of humanity for your proof of God.
