| Do you think the mov of the cru to Wrexham has been all arranged in a few weeks? I'd imagine as soon as it was announced they were moving to Newport this idea sprang up

If you believe some of the ( welsh) posters on this site, you would think that everyone in South Wales has thrown the towel in with The Crusaders' move to Wrexham. Not true.
Only last week one of the Crusaders Under age sides had nearly 70 boys at an open trial.
RL is alive and kicking in South Wales with more sides - Merthyr and Monmouth due to join the Welsh Summer Conference.

| Yeah Port, but whether you like it or not, Sh1tloads HAVE binned it. I came close myself.
Put it this way, i know personally that loads of players HAVE binned it and returned to the other code. The new clubs were arranged before the betrayal by the Crusaders management. So let's take off the rose tinted glasses and cut the spin. Turner and Samuel's phukked off now. No need for any more lies.
It remains to see if these new clubs'll survive. I hope they do! asnd I hope they all decide to stay in SOUTH Wales or if they are really talented go to a PROPER SL club before joining the fanless Crusaders.
The Gogs want our club, let them develop and support it THEMSELVES.
Let SOUTH Wales talent (if it survives the great betrayal) stay at the South Wales SILURIANS.

| The Crusaders have LOST more support in South Wales than they'll gain in Wrexham.
It will be a day out for the away fans and once that novelty has worn off the same problems will appear as they did down in Bridgend.
Long live the South Wales RL - hopefully called the Phoenix!

| Don't listen to Grendel...........
The new clubs set up at local level will run through the summer and want to play RL not watch the Crusaders
As far as loads of players returning to the other code is concerned, thats a bit of an overstatement as we only had 20 odd players in the Crusaders reserves anyway. Those who want to continue playing RL will now be staying with the new South Wales club.
I have also heard that quite a few new players have their names down for the South Wales' trial particulary as "Bridgend" aren't running things anymore .
No one from the U18 side has quit because The Crusaders are now U' Wrexham
And as far as The betrayal by the Crusaders management is concerned , the club had two choices - Fold or move up North .
Thats economy reality brought on by the Credit Crunch which has effected thousands of British workers' jobs never mind where the Crsuaders play

Oh don't talk s h i t Port!
The situation has changed and lots of lads interested in league last season have now binned it. I never said it was just Crusaders reserves binning the game - because lots haven't. But of over 3000 registered league players in Wales, you can knock 500 off that for starters. some of the new schools playing it have already jacked.
I will be FIRMLY supporting the Scorps (and ONLY the Scorps) in pro/semipro league.
As far as the Crusaders goes, it had SEVERAL choices. There was a firm consortium bid from Bridgend, for the club but not the debts. It's not economic reality, it is the personal incompetence of Leighton Samuel and Mike Turner.
Accept reality you fool and stop trying to paint things the way you prefer.

| Oh and Port you lying little t u r d , "Bridgend" never EVER ran the Crusaders. It was Samuel and Turner. The guys trying out for the Scorps are not trying out because "Bridgend" is not running them.
They are trying out because they can't try out for the Crusaders because the Crusaders f***ed off to the wastelands.
I will stand firmy behind the Scorps with honesty and realism. You can continue to sit firmly up turner's lying a r s e.

| Grendel me old chum I assume when the league registration stats come out and there are more than 2500 from wales you'll make a long and grovelling apology? If there are less than 2500 as you suggest I'll buy you a pint at a scorps game

| Ymlacio fechgyn! It would be probably unwise to think the move of the Crusaders to Wrexham has had no affect on the numbers of players involved in RL but i don't think it will signal the end and mass swaves of players will turn their back on the game and head back to Union. Lets wait and see ay?
lets leave the bitterness behind now and move on with the two new clubs. I look forward to seeing if it gives more players a chance . I think the new Scorpions squad could be very competitive.

If they are made up largely of the Welsh squad from the European Cup then I'd agree with you.
I hope the Scorpions do well in their first season!

Yes it is time to move on guys and back your club, stop the back biting and show the Crusaders you can become a good Welsh Rugby League team...

| Cheers Wildycat.
HOWEVER I have no intention of showing the Wrexham ANZACs ANYTHING until 2012 when we are both in CC.
I have no intention of moving together with both clubs.
Scorpions and Scorpions ONLY for me, WHATEVER imposition the WRL think they can force on the club.

Couldn't keep away. So choked down the disgust at the "management" of the game and hopeed on board with the only WELSH (as opposed to ANZAC) semi-pro RL side.

The Scorpions received so may applications for their open-trial that they couldn't cope with the numbers
and shows that RL in South Wales is still alive and kicking
and I quote from the website
"The club have been overwhelmed by the amount of young Welsh players who want to play professional rugby league. Almost 100 applications were received, more than expected, and because of this, some players have been emailed and have been told they won't get a trial this time around. However they have been told that the door is never closed, to keep playing for their local Conference club and the opportunity may arise again in the future."
