| I have a new windows phone (HTC Titan) and very nice it is too with a great OS.
I was showing a work mate the xbox live function and how it was all linked,
his 1st question was "Can i get that on my phone?"
i replied "What do you have?"
"A iPhone"
"No, was my replied"
"But its a iPhone!!!"
It seems that iOS users think that there is nothing outside of there system..
And they are the ones who get "Uppity" when others dont fall into the iPhone sales pitch.

I have a HTC myself and don't like it. I think the Android market is quite poor, it's flooded with poor and pointless apps, the phone itself isn't much good either.
I suppose no one other than iphone users think the same way about their phone do they? There are plenty of HTC users out there who think their phones are better than everyone elses.

| Quote ="Tony Stark"Largely on the button. I'd happily get an iphone if they refreshed how the OS looks etc once in a while and offered contracts that were competitive/comparative to other smart/super-phones. I understand the desirability of the iphone (and other apple products) in terms of its ease of use and the way they 'just work' but 90% of other such high end devices are more than capable of matching if not improving on this these days. I think what makes most of the so-called 'anti-apple' people speak out is that they can see beyond the clever marketing tactics employed by apple and the blind faith many iphone owners have in the product. And then there's the bandwagonning linked to what Adam says, the iphone has grown into something beyond a simple (or in this case rather complex) handheld telephone and is as much a badge of honour for fashionistas, including that rather vocal lot, the celebrities.
Anyway, back to the matter of handsets... Adam the Samsung Galaxy S2 is a superb piece of kit, i was torn between it and the HTC Sensation that I ended up choosing because of the great job HTC have done in skinning Android/Gingerbread with their Sense UI. There is little between the two, but inevitably they are both being surpassed... There are two new versions/additions to HTC's Sensation line-up and this bad-boy [url=http://www.stuff.tv/news/phone/stuff/need-to-know-%E2%80%93-samsung-galaxy-nexus?page=0,0The Samsung/Google Nexus[/url which is for all intents and purposes your Galaxy S3 (until Samsung actually release one called that) that is coming in November I believe, and with Google's soon to be latest OS codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich no less! Here is a fantastic article on that OS and how it compares favourably to apples latest offering... [url=http://www.stuff.tv/news/phone/stuff/android-ice-cream-sandwich-vs-ios-5Android Ice Cream Sandwich vs iOS5[/url.'"
Cheers for the info - that Nexus does look very nice. Shame that the camera is only 5MP, but I don't take a huge amount of photos on my phone anyway. I'll probably see how much you have to spend per month on an 18-month contract to get the handset for free. I may just go for the Galaxy S2 and reduce my monthly contract price in the process as I got the Galaxy S on release whereas this has been out for a good few months.
I noticed there's a Galaxy S2 HD that's been announced which is apparently faster than the Galaxy Nexus, although it only seems to be being released in South Korea at the moment.

| Steve Jobs autobiography seems like it is going to destroy his reputation and legacy. What's all this nonsense about him destroying Android if it takes his last breath and every penny of Apple's money? Stats we got today in work show Android rapidly munching it's way to 50% of the market share while IOS is around 20%.
Good job Steve.

Yeah, I saw that on the BBC - possibly just a ploy to create a bit of controversy to get people to buy it?
I'm not really an expert on phone technology and its development, but from what I've been reading it seems like a massively hypocritical statement when he was going on about Android stealing ideas.

Just seems to contradict the way he was portrayed before his death. I always had him down as a good guy, not a vengeful megalomaniac.

| After my iPhone contract ran out, I've decided it's about time to sack-off my £37pm deal with O2.
I've come across giffgaff which, for £10pm for 250mins, unlimited texts and unlimited net, seems a cracking deal. I know it's a subsidiary of O2 / Telefonica but does anyone have any experience / recommendations for them? Any problems?

I moved to giffgaff from 02 ages ago and haven't had any problems with them at all. The only slight niggle is you have to remember to buy the £10 "goodybag" each month as you cannot automatically renew it. However I've never forgotten to do it so far.
As an added bonus if your phone is locked to 02 (dunno if iPhones are?) it will work on giffgaff as it's the same network underneath.

| Cheers. It does seem to be getting good reviews. There's the odd gripe I can find online but, for £10 and no tie-in, I'll take my chances and save at least £300 a year. The only other issue seems to be the lack of visual voicemail but I can live with that.

| The only issue I've ever had regarding GiffGaff is data usage, in because it's piggybacked onto O2 it's pretty slow alot of the time.

| Anybody know anything about O2 insurance on pay monthly contracts? as finding information on their website is difficult, the online gurus dissapear after my question, and their customer services department aren't open until the morning... when I'm sure they will be getting a phone call.... however in the mean time...
I got my upgrade about 16 months ago. I've always had insurance. As my upgrade I got an Iphone 3gs, And at some point after my upgrade I received a letter saying that as I now have an Iphone, the insurance needed to cover it is £10 a month and will be adjusted in my bill, however this never happened and they continued to charge me the £5 a month for O2 gold insure monthly. Which I have been paying (maybe stupidly) £5 a month for. I've only just really decided to look into this as my phone did break earlier this year and was fixed for free, however was still within the 12 month warranty.. which id forgotten.. and assumed theyd paid for it through the insurance..
Have they been charging me £5 a month for something that in the event of a possible claim is absolutely no use to me at all?

I have a HTC Titan, it uses the same software though Windows Mobile, i find it great and easy to use.
Decent apps are now started to come out as well.
