Watched [url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1464580/Stake Land[/url last night - hadn't even heard of this film before stumbling across it yesterday.

Kind of a mash-up of The Road, I Am Legend and Zombieland (without so much humour), certainly a different take on the post-apocalyptic monster theme (in this case vampires, or 'vamps'). Definitely worth a watch - brutal, gritty and intelligently subdued for a 'horror'. Some original ideas (I'll just say helicopters) and even a narrative all keep you switched on. I even felt another 30 minutes would have allowed the expansion of a few sub-plots. Strong performances from the largely (and nicely) unfamiliar cast.

Watched Martyrs the other night. I was enjoying it and, unlike most horror films, I actually found it pretty unsettling at first with the whole child abuse/revenge angle. What is the point of going to see the Hollywood remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo ? There is no chance on this world that it will be as good as the original.

I wasn't that blown away by it when I saw it over the summer. Watched it again last night and I really enjoyed it. Great reboot to the franchise.

Just got round to watching super 8. Didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. What happened at the end was no surprise whatsoever but overall a good film with some great suspense leading upto what "it" actually is.

mmmmmmmmmmmm my opinion is its an average film and if youve nothing better to do then that will waste a bit of time.
however each to their own.

Submarine would be my film of the year. British Cinema at it's best, well written, nicely shot and good acting from a cast of relative unknowns. Great original soundtrack.

I watched Moneyball recently, I'm no fan of Baseball but I found it quite enjoyable.

Firstly, do not believe the reviews, the film is even worse. And Secondly, what the hell is De Niro thinking of these days? Done far too many clunkers in recent years.
