Well moving on from the forecast,It's still bloody hot though,Really enjoyed that game,really good to watch,Good battle between two good teams,one-sided games are a bit boring,Must admit we'd have been lucky to get Menzies and Straugheirs tries if the video ref wasnt there,Both got benefit of the doubt,But we defended really well,probably the best all season,Heard that Batleys pack were big,Bit of an understatement,Some of those were born in growbags,Ben black for Batley 1st half was unplayable,was very quiet 2nd half,good team performance sprinkled in with the tries from QLT and Menzie who just have that bit of extra class that wins you games,We are top of the league,happy days,Also a nice pint of red & white wizard before the game in the cricketers

Anyway, on to the game, really enjoyed it. Thought it was superb game for the cameras, two good sides but I think we just had that extra bit of quality to get us over the line. The defensive effort was nothing short of monumental, it has let us down at times this season, Leigh at home springs to mind when we should've won, but tonight it won us the game.

Thought Menzie was brilliant, and two more tries for Q, running out of ways to describe him, he's much better than the majority of full-backs in SL in my opinion.

Just watched the video ref decisions back, not quite sure how Menzie's first try was allowed think we got lucky there, but Straugheir's was a fair enough benefit of the doubt call.

Onwards and upwards, roll on France!

Menzie's was belly button control, clearly.

Menzie didn't play at the ball with his hand or arm. Potts kicked it backwards, it touched Menzie's arm and came backwards off him. Menzie grounded it with his upper body, which is fine.

Bit of an unusual situation with the ball being kicked backwards - does that count as a charge-down by Menzie ?

mmmmmm not sure that is true looked to me like Menzie did knock the ball forwards in the process of trying to ground the ball, prior to him grounding it with his belly button (which is quite legal). Having said that I thought there were some decisions that went against both teams, though I suspect that Batley might feel that more went against them...



However Sheffield where more than good value for their win overall, defended like deamons at times. I look forward to our game against you later in the year whether it's at BL or DVS.

What is fact is that "control" wasn't an issue. You can't knock on with your stomach.

I thought Joe had a cracking game, Vinny played his best game to date and Michael Knowles is awesome. But they all did their bit to secure that win, great team performance, defense was phenomenal.

Let's be honest though Griff, he could've thrown it over the line American football style and you'd have still given a try.
