Some people on there are muppets mate, guarantee they wouldn't feel the same if they were a Leigh/Fev/Fax/Sheffield fan.

By the way, how have they decided who's at home and who's away? I understand that Fev and Leigh finished in the top 2, but if you look at it like that Halifax finished 6th! So why aren't Batley in it?

From your point of view, are you happy that Sheffield seem to have been given an away 'draw', even as Grand Final runners up? The only 'performance' reason that Halifax would participate instead of Batley is because they went further in last year's play-offs, but in that case it should be Sheffield having a home game and Leigh playing away, not that that would be my preferred option, honest!



EDIT - you beat me to it about the 'draw' anomaly! It does seem to have been decided on league placings though obviously that doesn't explain Halifax replacing Batley.

Definitely some potential in the idea though if this sort of thing can be ironed out for future tournaments. Though of course any question as to how the thing will work (especially when considering the Championship fixture list) is instantly dismissed as 'flatter-capperism' on the VT, so it's relieving to have genuine debate about on here!

Surely it's UK 1st and 3rd clubs at home to the French 1st and 3rd and UK 2nd and 4th away to the French 2nd and 4th.

I like the concept but why can't anything ever be simple? Either have the top 4 in the league or the final 4 of the playoffs, and if you're going to have the final 4 of the playoffs, reward the playoff finalists with a home tie rather than third place!

Will be interesting to see how it is worked around the fixture list and how seriously our clubs take it. Maybe the RFL should introduce an incentive for winning it on top of a few quid? Although all four clubs are already in a position to apply for a 2015 license (I think?) so not sure what that would be.

1st and 3rd with regard to the playoffs? My brain hurts, still doesn't explain why 3rd place should be given the home advantage, my suggestion would be:

English 1st vs French 4th
English 2nd vs French 3rd
French 1st vs English 4th
French 2nd vs English 3rd

Based on league placings and ignoring the Halifax/Batley issue, that would seem to be how it's going to work. Whether it's then an open draw or if it's structured like the play-offs thereafter (ie knowing you will play the winners of match A etc) is anyone's guess.

Right as I understand it, that format Griff put up is correct. They are one off games and the scores are added up on aggregate to see who wins (us or France). The winner of the Fev vs French champions game will select a champion of Europe, if you like, obviously discounting SL teams.

As soon as we know something for certain we could have a bit of a get together to discuss how to get there etc?

We'll need to know who we're playing first presumably, unless venues are chosen beforehand. The French season doesn't finish until March time I think?

As things currently stand, if we are away to the second place team then we're off to Avignon!!

Avignon would certainly be easier for hotels than Lezignan that's for sure. Not Toulouse again please, i've been there 4 times already.
