SHEFFIELD Eagles’ boss Mark Aston has hit out at Dewsbury’s coach Warren Jowett after the Rams’ players were not allowed to stay for the traditional after-match meal.


Jowett ordered his players straight from the changing room to their bus after the Eagles 42-10 victory at Bramall Lane last Thursday.

“I’m disgusted by what happened and it’s an insult to Sheffield Eagles,” said Aston. “To leave straight after the game is unprofessional.

“Your team always stays for a meal which is provided by the home club. After working all day and then playing the players need the food.”

Jowett’s decision follows on from a row between the clubs last year when the Eagles staged their game at Mount St Mary’s College, Spinkhill, because Don Valley and Bramall Lane were unavailable.

The Rams’ boss said he would “wear my old school blazer”. After that game, which Eagles won, Jowett ordered his team straight on to their coach without a meal.

Is he still going on about that?



I did wonder why no Dewsbury players had come upstairs afterwards.
